Is Canada officially now the 51st state?

I'm just wondering since in the last week, about 5 Canadians have bought things from me on Ebay despite my large, in bold text (which is in the first paragraph of the auction, in plain view) statement proclaiming that I only ship within the United States

If I put on the customs forms that the items are worth $5000 each, will their customs officials charge them an outrageous fee, or do they research the item cost themselves, too?

You forgot to put the aution in both languages, as required by law.

they didn't follow the terms of the offer, its not a valid contract, you don't have to ship anything

Well, of course. It's just the hassle of going through re-listing it, getting my fees credited, waiting days for the auction to end again, refunding them, getting email replies with them whining, etc.

Whats wrong with selling to Candians? I mean, as long as they pay the extra shipping... is it a big deal? They bid on your stuff and raised the price.

CanOWOrms, Canadians are taking advantage of a strong currency these days, and it's very likely this will be going on for a while....

It's idiots like you that make buying stuff on ebay hard. What the hell is the big deal about shipping to Canada. If they want your item let them pay the fvcking fee instead of being a complete ass about it.

I sell a large amount of stuff. I don't want to sit there and fill out a stupid customs form just for one package. Also, Canadians tend to ask you to lie about the price of the item on the forms (they are very sneaky :)). Also, USPS offers free boxes for Priority Mail. I don't want to buy or find a box for one item. Also, they never offer to pay more for shipping... they act as if it's completely normal. They get very uppity (in my experience) if I ask them to pay more for shipping so I can send it be a more secure method.

I think they're the idiots since they bid on it :)

Most of my auctions are in this format (1 paragraph): Sentence saying what you're bidding on & its condition. Sentence stating shipping costs for USPS Priority Mail. Sentence stating methods of payment. Statement, in bold text, that item can only be shipped within the United States.

Basically half of the auction description (the shipping method and only will ship within US statement) states that it can't be shipped to Canada and they still bid! It's incredible...

They can't bid and raise the price on Fixed-Price Auction :(

Perfectly fine! I've had Canadians, Germans, UK, etc. buy my items and get me to mail it to their relatives or friends in the US :)

simple fix for this problem.
if it is normally $5 to ship to US
charge $50 to ship to canada, make this very clear in the auction description.

They would probably not see it, bid on it, and end up crying about it. Probably drop off a negative, too!

Ebay needs an option where you can restrict bids for your auctions to only come from registered users from certain countries.

Agreed. Maybe you should actually have some facts to back that up, Mr. Minnesota. ;)
