I don't want to sign up for a google account right now, so I went looking for Skype apk download, and this site popped up.

Can you get viruses from apk files?

Use this:

http://market.1mobile.com/

Not 100% safe, but Blackberry and Amazon Kindle owners have been using it for awhile to get .apk files that they normally wouldn't have access to. I have never had a problem with it.

I use fdroid almost exclusively. All apps are libre software with source code available. It goes without saying they don't have Skype, but I consider that a feature.

Why don't you want to sign up for a google account? You're missing out on 3/4 of the functionality of Android.

Why are you using android if you don't want a google account?

Seriously. WTF?

I use android cause I want a machine that's hackable. I have no use for google.
The download link on the provided link is dead. I would give it a try, though. Is there an alternative?
I dunno. I haven't fooled with this stuff in awhile. A search for "play store downloader" might give useful results.
