Seems to me a VPN would fix that. The box that is setup with Netflix could VPN into the same server for everyone that shares the account so it all comes from same IP. As far as they are concerned it's all coming from the same house. The house will suspiciously be inside a data centre though.

Netflix starting blocking the two VPNs I've used years ago.

If they're gonna crack down on password sharing, they really need to reconsider their plan structure. I dropped them again for at least 6 months, making my total 7.50 per month.

The fact that the only 4k plan is $20+ but is for 4 TV's is pretty ridiculous IMO. I have one TV, maybe 2 at a time, but not likely.

Where's the single TV 4k plan? $7/ month sounds reasonable.

Hypothetically, Netflix could make it more affordable per individual, but still bring in more money, technically more subscribers, etc..

This is what I've been bitching about. I just want a single damn 4K screen option, or maybe 2 at most. There are a shit ton of single people or couples living with 4K screens that have zero need for paying for four users concurrently.

Anyways let's see if they do it and how hardcore. Like I can see they crack down on people have one account sharing it with like 4 people all in different places in the country. Maybe they won't give a shit if everyone is at one IP except one person sharing it from somewhere else. I don't think they will be Nazis about it, which is why they are testing reactions.

Yep...and for the first time in forever, we'll be without Netflix. Cancelled it as on the April renew date.

Yea, I don't what they're thinking. I made sure to write a long winded cancellation reason to that effect. Change the plan structure or lose business *shrug*.

If you care about your old profiles, just renew within 10 months and then cancel it again.
Didn't even know it saved them for that long, thanks for the heads up. I figured you had maybe a month or three to keep the content saved to the profile.

I'm more annoyed that people are still in the 'Flix cult, or any other pay for TV cult. But it ain't my money, so if y'all want to toss yours into rich people's pockets, so be it.

Netflix might start cracking down on sharing passwords. They are testing in 3 non-US countries now.

Like I said before, I share my password with my sister so her and the kids can have something to watch. If they raise my bill again I'm gone unless she want so to pony up some money. I spend the bulk of my time on HBO Max these days. When I'm on Netfix I spend all my time wading through crap trying to find something to watch only to leave frustrated 30 to 40 minutes later.

Doesn't really impact me, I already canceled my Netflix account months ago.

If Netflix still has a freeloader problem, at least I'm not contributing to it anymore :)

I did the same when I cancelled last year. Been on my sister's Netflix account since.

I pay for hbo and my sister and gf use those.

I use their prime login just for streaming.

Then I'll alternate between Hulu and appletv every couple months.

It works out, for now

Been a long time since I cancelled Netflix so all another price increase combined with them "cracking down" on account-sharing does is make me feel better about my decision.

I currently pay for Prime and Paramount Plus only far as streaming goes and I'm seriously considering dropping Paramount with the "dogs lunch" they've made of Star Trek.

Is season 2 of Picard any good? Just curious.

Yeah, I may subscribe long enough to watch Sandman, but definitely not planning to have an ongoing plan as long as 4K is over $10/mo. I only need a single screen plan.

I'm reserving judgement for now but I'm not optimistic.... I'll avoid any actual "spoilers" but if you've seen "A piece of the action" and "The city on the edge of forever" (TOS) you already have it 90% covered. Maybe with a bit of "The Voyage Home" on the side.

Considering the literally 10's of thousands of fantastic ORIGINAL sci-fi short stories out there and available for fresh story-lines I found the plot choices so far extremely disappointing.

I may stick around for "Strange new Worlds" but I'm also having reservations about the new "Captain Kirk"...

I was looking forward to Picard, but what I heard about the first season didn't really make me want to watch it.

Leonard Nimoy is the exception among ST cast-members in that he did a very good job directing the two ST movies he made. I think what we're seeing here is way too much of the inmates running the asylum.

The VAST majority of actors don't actually make very good directors... or (apparently) writers no matter how "beloved" they were as cast-members.

Also excessive fan-service sucks and completely ruins most shows/movies.

Thread bump: I renewed in October, my kids burned through stranger things season 3+4, I just cancelled again. So three months and I’ll renew again on the 10th month to keep profile data.

my cancellation included another “your plan structure is why I’m canceling” message

I hate to say it but I agree! My minor is in film & I've always wanted to go into directing full-time; when I finally found some full-on fan-service films (especially sci-fi), yeah...it kind of ruins it! Because then it's not special anymore, it's just "more of the same", so it loses its value of fun in the show!

I had the first inkling of this when I started trading off movies with my wife. We'd alternate rom-coms with nerd shows. I'd always complain & be like here we go, it's gonna be a love triangle and blah blah blah. And she shot back on yeah, just like how all sci-fi shows are the same...big spaceship battle where the good guys win at the end. And I was like DANGIT! SHE'S RIGHT! Hahaha.
