Than a 1080, perhaps. Not a TitanX(P).Koduri said MI25 is single GPU.

On paper its faster (teraflops). it should be faster under dx12 and vulkan as usual. probably wont OC well enough in the end. probably.

There's no point debating about stuff that doesn't exist in reality yet.
I think we have to. AMD doesn't have any competitors to sell and won't have any for a while. The question of "is it worth it to wait for AMD's response" should go through the mind of every high-end GPU consumer.
Personally I don't think the 490 will beat the 1080 let alone the 1080 Ti or Titan. If AMD had that kind of card coming soon they would be leaking like crazy hoping to get people to wait to buy until after the holiday season.
If the 490 beats the Titan XP, I'll buy everyone at Anandtech a 490 .There's no problem speculating but for the people outright saying it's faster or slower has no base to stand on.
I think it's more likely the Rx 490 will be a dual GPU of current 480's, than a single GPU that competes with Titan X. Then again, they may have a bigger version of the Rx 480 that competes closer to a 1080 or 1070. I bet they come up with a Fury X type name for Vega, like they did last generation, which this should be the card to compete with TitanX.Nobody knows yet. Very doubtful its dual gpu. That's a rumor that has no basis yet comes back every single generation. I doubt any Vega SKU will match the Titan X P but we dont have much to go on so everyone is just guessing

Is that certain enough?

I'm in for this
I feel it may compete with the 1080. Titan XP performance might be a long shot.

I didn't say otherwise. I said that the 490 is more likely to be a dual GPU than Vega. Vega will likely have a Fury X type name.Vega has already been confirmed to be a single GPU product.
Why would AMD risk having multi GPU issues in a performance tie that low? I mean, if they´re capable to manufacture a more powerful GPU (MI25) and not having to use two GPUs to achieve a certain performance target, why would they use two for a slower card?I said that the 490 is more likely to be a dual GPU than Vega.
