You have a Titan X p , no, there is no way a 490 will be that fast.
It there actually is a dual gpu 490 it will be about as fast as a gtx1070/1080.

If it's really two 480s on a single PCB, then it's probably more like a 1080 competitor, maybe +5-10%.

Nobody knows yet. Very doubtful its dual gpu. That's a rumor that has no basis yet comes back every single generation. I doubt any Vega SKU will match the Titan X P but we dont have much to go on so everyone is just guessing

Yes the made from magic rainbows and unicorns RX490 will destroy all with a care bear stare!......

Seriously thought when will people stop asking about performance of a product that does not exist yet. Hell it hasn't even been officially announced yet.

Yet again people are speculating on a product that doesn't exists so no one knows if it faster or not even the people posting saying it is or could never be. They have no idea they're just talking out their ars!

There's no point debating about stuff that doesn't exist in reality yet.

I think we have to. AMD doesn't have any competitors to sell and won't have any for a while. The question of "is it worth it to wait for AMD's response" should go through the mind of every high-end GPU consumer.

Personally I don't think the 490 will beat the 1080 let alone the 1080 Ti or Titan. If AMD had that kind of card coming soon they would be leaking like crazy hoping to get people to wait to buy until after the holiday season.

The only known thing is that they have the tech to compete (ala MI25 compute stick)) and they will be releasing something in Q2. Whether they can distill that level of performance down into a package fit for the consumer space remains to be seen and at a price ppl will buy. PPL who need to move now are better off waiting until they can actually see what is what, but until then it's a crap shoot. You guys are just creating narratives to rationalize whatever choice. I think its better to just wait for the facts to come out or go green. Its seems pretty simple to me.

There's no problem speculating but for the people outright saying it's faster or slower has no base to stand on.

I think it's more likely the Rx 490 will be a dual GPU of current 480's, than a single GPU that competes with Titan X. Then again, they may have a bigger version of the Rx 480 that competes closer to a 1080 or 1070. I bet they come up with a Fury X type name for Vega, like they did last generation, which this should be the card to compete with TitanX.

If the 490 beats the Titan XP, I'll buy everyone at Anandtech a 490 .
Is that certain enough?

If its not called the 490 but Fury or something similar does that still count? Is it Big Vega? What counts for that claim?

Unlikely as that may be, faster in what test? Let's get some ground rules to prevent moving goal posts if this should come to pass.

Outside chance or not, I'd not turn down a free graphics card.

I'm in for this :):)
I feel it may compete with the 1080. Titan XP performance might be a long shot.

A 490 is slower than big Vega, the chances are very very slim to none.
The big Vega would have to be 30% faster than Titan XP for the 490 to even have a chance. The 490 is not even gonna beat a gtx1080, Big Vega might.

Vega has already been confirmed to be a single GPU product.

I said that the 490 is more likely to be a dual GPU than Vega.
Why would AMD risk having multi GPU issues in a performance tie that low? I mean, if they´re capable to manufacture a more powerful GPU (MI25) and not having to use two GPUs to achieve a certain performance target, why would they use two for a slower card?

This dual GPU nonsense needs to die, specially when it is based in rumors
