There's lot of illegal sites out there or illegal content, but if they have good enough lawyers, it becomes legal or they use the "freedom of speech" loophole. You can find sites that even show you how to make nuclear weapons and stuff. You'd think they'd get shut down or something but nope. Don't go hosting an Mp3 or torrent site though. But sites that can do harm are ok.

4chan doesn't have a jailbait board. Other chans might, maybe that's where you saw it. And technically it's illegal, but I don't think anybody cares. A 16 year old taking pictures of herself isn't exactly comparable to pictures of a child being raped, although the law doesn't seem to make any distinction between the two. If actual child pornography is posted, mods will usually delete it pretty quickly.

*EDIT* I first heard about the site when Bill O'Reily called 4chan a haven for criminals and pedophiles and called for it to be shut down. Naturally I wanted to see what the fuss was about... there's some pretty nasty stuff posted there. While I find it disgusting, there are some valid sections that are not disgusting and we live in the USA where censorship is (fortunately) unpopular so I doubt it'll be shut down any time soon. I doubt it's even hosted on American soil... but we're not China... no national proxy to filter what reaches our delicate eyes.

it's .org, /b and Random are the same section. They assign a letter to each subcategory for quick reference but some make more sense than others, ie /b for random, /s for sexy women, /r for requests, /hc for hardcore.

well i decided i just wont go there anymore. i see a cute chick and boobs = click the picture. i don't want to get in trouble for looking at a chick that doesn't happen to be 18 (not that I would know...some people look young, some look old). Can people get in trouble for viewing material or only uploading it? also, i saw some sick shit on that site...there was a picture of a guy putting a coat hanger into his pee hole...WTF.

As for CP usually if you can't tell at first glance that's not the CP the authorities are after. Not that I would know it just seems to me most pedophiles would be interested in 12 year olds that look like 12 year olds, not 16 year olds that look like 21 year olds. That's what makes them paedophiles. But yeah any real CP is truly disgusting and those bastards need to be stopped.
