Iron Man 2: Disappointing *Some SPOILERS*

Anyone else here see Iron Man 2 yet? Anyone somewhat disappointed with it? I saw it last night at midnight and all I can say is that Im glad I didnt go with my other friends and pay $15 to see it in IMAX. The movie was longer than it needed to be, the first hour was just Tony Stark/Iron Man showboating, lots of "Im Iron Man, who loves me?" And it wasnt until the last half hour that you finally got some action. I also wasnt impressed with the CGI, there were parts in the movie where the Iron Man suit looked too fake.

Overall the movie was somewhat entertaining. What little action there was, was good and there was some good Robert Downey Jr. humor here and there. But it was too slow in the beginning and they wasted too much time with Iron Man showboating and trying to look cool that it took away from the action, hell the final battle with Mickey Rourke ended in ~60 seconds.

Definitely wasnt batter than the first, Im glad I only paid $7.75 to see it. Ill probably watch it again on Blu-Ray.

I liked it. Not as awesome as the first but still pretty great.

The first hour or so was the best part. I think everyone agrees that the final battle seemed a little short.

I almost fell asleep the first hour of the movie.

I think it was great. I think the main reason things played out slowly is because they are building on a bigger picture. Theres so much depth to the marvel universe that to do it right, it's gonna be a ton of movies. They already have Sam L signed for like 9 movies as nick fury. That tells me they want to go big or go home this time around with the marvel universe.

So overall, this movie is just more build up to greater things (So we hope, if all goes to plan.)

The plot looked really weak in the trailers. But I guess when you consider these are supposed to tie in with each other it can be a bit on the boring side. I didnt think the first one was terribly good either but when you fit it into the overall story. Then it is a good enough movie.

I actually liked the fact that it wasn't 90% fighting that I thought it'd be. Only really lame part was when War Machine fought Iron Man when he was drunk. The way they introduced that whole section was really cheesy.

Disappointing? Did you see Scarlett Johansson? That's probably the hottest she's ever looked in a movie!

I liked it, almost more than the first one. I'm one of the people who likes all this plot/character development mumbo jumbo. I equate it to Batman Begins and Dark Knight. Each consecutive movie just keeps building off of each other.

Any modern big-budget movie is automatically fail.
Any movie that casts Robert Downey Jr. as anything other than a parody of himself is automatically fail.
Any movie that skips the plot to fit in more CGI retardation is automatically fail.

The Iron Man franchise combines all three errors. Verdict: Death by icepick

It was a good movie because I wasn't expecting crazy action. I was expecting a buildup to the avengers and I got that. The scene after the credits setting up Thor. The Captain America shield. I actually liked the second half of plot rather than shit blowing up.

My only gripe was how short the final fight against Whiplash was.

Some of the best movies I have seen recently have been big, modern Hollywood blockbusters. The Dark Knight, Wall-E, Up!, District 9, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Avatar. If you didn't think a single one of those was good then you have terrible taste in movies.

Iron man 1 was not only good; it was amazing. I expected shlock and i got self-aware funny.


I loved how often Iron man 2 broke the 4th wall;

though I would have liked it better if there was more in the way of Sherlock-Holmes level bad-ass; like the first movie.

I haven't seen any of those, and doing so isn't particularly high on my to-do list.
I did finally see Zombieland last weekend, that was pretty sweet.

I just came back from watching it and I throughly enjoyed it. I think the first hour was really good and set the scene for character development.

It somewhat aggravates me when people want nothing but action in movies - that is nothing but a recipe for disaster, or Michael Bay.

I disagree with your opinion of it being longer than it need to be. The length to me was just right, it just felt longer due to the numerous dragged out back and forth sequences between Pepper and Tony.

I don't know what your talking about with the CGI though, it looked fine to me; looked just as fine as the first one did.

I will agree with the final battle between Iron Man, Warmachine, and Whiplash was way disappointing.
