>>Sadaam claimed the oil in the region was 'His.' We showed him he was wrong... <<

Actually, Tominator, all we showed him was that our military is vastly superior. And although we he may have been wrong in this instance, I wouldn't want anyone to draw the conclusion that might makes right.

Also, his claims are not as quite preposterous as most of us assume. That part of the world was that colonialized by Western countries in the early part of the 20th century and when we left, we cut up the region along lines that suited our needs best, not theirs. Not that I'm saying he's right (why'd he wait so long to invade if he felt Kuwait was truly part of Iraq?), just that it's not as clear-cut as most people here would believe.

Exactly what part of that world did the United States colonize? I didn?t know that we colonized that part of the world. I thought most of the US colonies where in the Pacific and Caribbean.

That's right, lay the blame elsewhere. In 1973, the US was given a clear message which it chose to ignore. That message was that the US achilles heel was oil. Now, some 28 years later, it seems that the only way to even think about alternative fuels is for people/governments to adopt policies that many ridicule as pinko/tree hugging idiocy.

Now, instead of seeing the message again, the call is to just steal the oil? At the US's current rate, the worlds oil will be depleted and the US will collapse from a lack of it. Get off your lazy butts and take alternative energy seriously!
