iPhone 6 - Who's preordering tomorrow at 3:01am?

so i noticed now on my fedex delivery the "customize delivery" option is now available since my tracking history now shows "Shipment information sent to FedEx". however all of the options for the shipment are grayed out...

Same for me, and that's a real bummer. They should at least let you drop it off at a local FedEx store since the truck has to visit it anyway! I'll probably just end up working a bunch extra today, and take off some of tomorrow.

But, Samsung keeps playing all those commercials about how they had a big phone first and the iPhone is just a copy! Funny that Apple never has to make fun of other phones to sell theirs.

Along the same lines, it really grinds my gears when fellow engineers give me crap for owning an iPhone. Buddy, I'm sure my phone can check e-mail, browse Facebook, send texts and play Clash of Clans just as well as your Android phone can, and we sure as hell know that's all you do with it! :colbert:

Mine has a "Hold at Fedex location" button available, but only after it has departed the NJ facility. You guys might want to try again, if you can't be home for delivery. I took tomorrow off (actually have something else that required it), so I should be home for mine.

yeah i meant more like android is trying to get out of the nerdy stereotype with the hipsters in the ads. i guess i said it really wrong huh heh.

I probably don't watch enough live TV to have seen hipsters in Samsung's commercials. Or maybe quoting anonymous twitter people is supposed to be hip...I dunno, that strikes me as nerdy as you can get. There is also the possibility that I am not hip enough to get it. 😱 I can never tell if someone is a hipster or just a dork.

The Android phone commercials are catering to the yuppy, pretend nerdy demographic. The types who used to work be seen with Apple products, because they were expensive and not popular. That Amazon Phone commercial with that stupid kid is a good example. He is "nerdy" enough to not be labeled as a corporate worker bee, but not enough to know his serial port from his VGA port, and certainly has no idea what an LTP port is.

Basically, the kind of nerds girls actually want when they say they like nerdy guys. They aren't into your DnD GoBots neckbeard crap. They want a skinny guy who dressed in "vintage" clothing, wears thick glasses, and drinks "premium" (read as IPA...) beers.

2:04 pm Departed FedEx location NEWARK, NJ

still grayed out for me. wonder if ours are on the same truck!

Has anyone preordered a phone to pickup in store? I'm supposed to pick mine up at the local apple store tomorrow. Trying to decide if I want to go before work but I'm afraid it will be super busy. Anyone have any experience at an average apple store?

Is your request notifications greyed out as well? Are you on the FedEx page using the link they gave you or did you enter the tracking number in yourself?

Also, mine left NJ at 11:43, so probably different trucks.

I can click request notifications and the button to the left of it, but on the next page all options on the left for "this shipment" are all grayed out.

just a heads up for those of you like me who won't be home tomorrow for the shipment...

click this link...

http://www.fedex.com/us/customersupport/tracking/reference/

and click on the "I won't be able to sign for my package, what can I do?" link and you will see this...

If your package was shipped with the Indirect Signature Release option, you may leave a signed and dated handwritten note on the door instructing the driver to leave the package at your door.

my buddy found that, so that is what i will be doing!

I just now ordered an iPhone 6 for my wife from Verizon and was shocked that my ship date was still 9/19. I guess the 4.7" silver 128GB version isn't that popular. Many other options had ship dates in October.

The phone is now leaving Louisville, KY and is supposed to be here tomorrow. Pretty sweet for ordering in the middle of the day on Tuesday. Screw that 3 AM stuff. 🙂

The 64 was probably their sweet spot. But congrats...last week at this time I was still slamming the keyboard trying to preorder :| And still no tracking # yet even though they said it'd ship overnight...argh.

Ha! Looks like I did that without knowing I could lol.

yeah, really hope it works heh...

8:30 am On FedEx vehicle for delivery ROCKVILLE, MD

or maybe they won't deliver until late in the afternoon, who knows. i had a saturday fedex delivery last weekend that didn't come until like 4:30pm, but it was saturday so the schedule may be all different.

Question for you guys since I haven't done this very much - if you are upgrading an existing phone, does the new phone basically hijack your number once you power it up, then making the old phone unable to place/receive calls?

UPS delivered my 6+ a little while ago. Restoring from backup right now and setting up TouchID. This is a big phone.

Big as in being uncomfortable? So far are you happy with the size of it? I haven't had a chance to get one in hand to test out. No Tmobile store had a demo yet when they opened.

Yeah. At least for AT&T, when I booted up the new phone and connected to wifi, it verified my phone number and prompted for billing zip code and last 4 of SSN. After that, it was activated.

I have pretty big hands, so I may not be the best example. I can hold it in one hand and reach comfortably to the 2nd row of apps. Typing is a little off, as my thumb adjusts to different reach lengths for the various letters. I think it will just take some getting used to.
