Found another casualty...Rhapsody lost all of downloaded offline content. Doesn't seem like a big deal but several albums I had on my phone were ones that Rhapsody later switched to "Purchase Only" and I can't get anymore under the subscription plan.

Lame.

I love the fact that you can use the device while synching. But the best feature of them all is the fact that it can sync wirelessly

i bit the bullet and upgraded to iOS5 then JB with redsn0w ... cydia crashes now and then, and of course it's a tethered JB. so far so good.

Still getting use to both of these features.

Because none of my Macs are on Lion yet, I am still running syncing somewhat piecemeal.

Well it can't go in a folder because it is a folder

I know, but it presents like an App (and cannot be deleted). Apple usually knows what the people will think before the people do. This was a no-brainer that people would immediately want to put it in a folder (or delete it).

It will get fixed.

It's only a guess, but I think they may wait until the almost predictable 5.0.1 which will come out and fix some of the bugs that people find in the 5.0 release. Since patches typically come much faster after a major release, and people may actually want those fixes, I don't think they want 5.0.1 to fix their exploits as well.

really? 5.0 has been pretty bug free for me. honestly i'd call this ios 4.4 plus siri - not 5.0

It might be. Sometimes it's hard to tell if the issues lie with iOS 5 or iTunes 10.5. My bet is on the latter. iOS 5 actually had outside beta testing, but I don't recall iTunes 10.5 getting any. I had to do some crazy thing earlier just to get it to properly work with my phone. :\

The only problems I have been having can be directly related to PEBKAC-related errors.

Once I get Lion on all my Macs, that fun will really start 😉

My friend is having the same original issue as me. Still seems to be an issue with the WiFi Sync having iTunes freak out about not being able to see a device. It just seems like a horrible job on Apple's part in regard to how iTunes handles WiFi syncing in that it constantly tries to keep a connection, and complains if it can't make it.

Even after fixing my problem, it's now bother my OCD nature in that my phone is just called "Apple iPhone" when I plug it into my PC rather than "<my name here>'s iPhone". I still appear to be able to access it fine, but man... that does bug me. :|

I am not experiencing any of the problems you guys are, but I am not yet running Lion.

I'm running Lion, and I have had no wifi syncing issues whatsoever.

It is worth noting that my friend and I both use Windows. I don't know if that makes a difference, but I assume the code base for iTunes has some differences to account for the different APIs with each OS.

The two issues I've seen are:
1) iTunes complains that it cannot connect to a device. The device is not plugged in, and because of that, I assume WiFi is not connected. This makes the device inaccessible, so iTunes complains.

2) iTunes will constantly open itself if you have WiFi Sync and "Open iTunes when this device is connected" enabled. If you attempt to disable the automatic open, it has the potential to put your device in an unsyncable state. The only way to fix this is to tell iTunes to create it as a new iPhone, but unplug it before it can screw things up.

Yeah, that's a bummer. I can only assume it's a function of not having enough real estate on the iPhone to make it worthwhile. It works great on the iPad.

I've mentioned it before, but other browsers allow you to use tabs on the iPhone, and in my opinion, it works fine. They use the same browsing engine as Safari, so any speed increase in Safari should affect the other browsers as well.

Web browsing feels a lot snappier under iOS5. Might just be the clean install though, but benchmarks seem to prove it. Even Gizmodo's craptastic new layout loads better. That one even manages to choke my desktop. Please Gawker, get rid of that bloated POS layout.

Left alone, how often does a plugged-in iDevice sync via wi-fi with iTunes (Mac)?

MotionMan

I haven't done any tests to confirm this, but I believe it will sync only when you tell iTunes to sync if it's not plugged in. It will automatically begin to sync if you plug it into a power source.

Will it ever sync again if you leave it alone?
