Anyway, what is your solution?

Oh, simply back to the "can Do" principle America used to have before Greed above all else.

America has fallen down beyond 20th on the list of available High Speed Access and still falling.

That's the America y'all embrace now, good for you.

The Can Do was because there was a need to get something done. What is the need for high-speed internet access.

10 years ago, high speed for the user was a 56KB dial-up. Most business worked well then (using dial-up as needed and/or setup something with their local Telco as needed) and prospered. The only thing that high-spped access at the user terminus gained was the ability to send out large volumes of data quickly. (video and audio). In the process, efficiency became a lower priority. Large data files are no longer shipped compressed.

Again, why is High Speed Access required for most people. Also, one should look at the population density of the 20 slots above the US.

Excuses excuses, The Pussy's of America, how pathetic. We deserve to be second class.

Do you do anything other than call people names?

With the new second class America, guess not.

Looks like you're proud of being second class though, good for you.

I fought the giant Monopoly, took me 2 years in between really being caugh in the middle of a real Government Conspiracy but I did succeed.

How many in here can say they got called personally from the Giant phone Co telling them after the Phone Compnay appeared on the News because they were caught treating customers as second class citizens and that they installed High Speed access within 3 months.

Maybe I should've been a wuss like the rest of America is now and stayed stuck with dial up while the Millionaires in the next subdivision continue to get high speed access as the line went right by my house.

Wow. You are an incredible ass.

You have been asked what your solution to this non-problem is, and all you have done is call people names, and spout various empty platitudes, much like John Kerry did. All he did was say - "I can do better" without explaining his plan.

Lets see, I gave you a direct challange.

"What is your solution?" I even listed some options, that could have been expanded:

Your only reply was "american can Do", not based on greed.

I gave you two companies that said "can do"

One of those companies succeed, one of them failed. The failed one put a few people i know out of work when it folded, the other company still employees 850 people. Those 850 people are paying taxes, and aren't on the government pay roll, they don't cost you and me a thing.

Explain to what is your SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF RURAL INTERNET ACCESS, since apparently the free market can't handle it.

I did explain it but as usual the FLL's in here refuse to see, not surprising. We are all paying for Rural High Speed access, it is on your Bill. Are we getting service from those fees? Of course not.

Would you care to explain what they have been doing with the Billions of dollars for Rural High Speed Access they have been getting all these years???

Would you care to prove that *every* home in rural America does not have high speed? Who's to say that it is not being gradually rolled out?

What do you mean by "make". I do feel its okay that they get bigger yachts. It is their right to spend their profits as they see fit.
Anyway my mother lives rurally. She doesnt even have cable near her house.I have seen her phone bill and its not exorbitant.Anyhoo....

is this what you complaining about?

'cause if it is, it has abosultely NOTHIGN TO DO WITH INTERNET SERVICE.

Awesome link.
Once again the Blue states paying for the red.😀

Screw the rural areas if they cant support a market then so be it.

Except that Dave, the professional country bumpkin hater, is now claiming that the urbanits SHOULD be paying for the rural areas. He can't decide whether to love or hate the FLLs. Now he wants Kerry voters to pay for Bush voters internet. 😕

Secondly, do you realize that every blue state has lots of rural areas, and red states have large cities? This is not red or blue states you tard, it's rural vs urban.

You call a High Speed Rural Internet Access Fee that we all pay for and do not get Rural High Speed Intenet Access out of it a "Profit"???

There you go folks, in black and white the stupidity of the folks voting and running this Country.

That's why we deserve what we are getting, screwed.

I did a search for "High Speed Rural Internet Access Fee" - found nothign about what you are talking about.

I did a search for "rural phone access fee" brings up the article that i posted.

Can you provide a link, or possible a scan of your phone bill showing"High Speed Rural Internet Access Fee"?

What may be going on - something that i've read about - phone company's slapping extra fees on customers and giving them strange names. This could be one of those cases in which case you would have a bone to pick with your phone company.

Keep in mind that - not everyone uses the same telco and aren't subject to the same fees and charges, as you.

At this point though unless you can prove this 'fee' exsists - you don't have anything to stand on. Even if your telco is charging you to provide "rural internet access" that would only affect that telco's customers. Not the 20,000 people whom Star Band serves. Which you orginally started this thread with - and have failed to answer the simple questions of how to provide service to these far-flung places in the country.

12-21-2004 Broadband Use Surpasses Dial-Up in U.S. For First Time at 53%

As prices dropped over the past year, broadband use at home has surpassed that of dial-up in the United States, reaching 53 percent of residential Web users in October, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

The United States trailed 12 of the 15 top economies, including Canada, in broadband penetration, according to a September report from U.N. International Telecommunication Union analyzing 2003 data.

We are 12th out of 15th in broadband deployment because our country is so large and the landmass is so huge that it's expensive and takes forever to lay the lines and stuff. It's much easier in European countries where it's much smaller land area, etc...

That's been shown to be a Bullsh1t excuse many many times over just like all the money the Monopoles have gotten over and over for old technology.

Ply again, nevermind, it is clear you are Proud of the U.S's non-achievement and sliding into the abyss.

2-9-05BellSouth Network Upgrades 4-6Mbps of that will be for DSL (ADSL2+ specifically)

The technology, ADSL2+, will enable download speeds between 4 megabits per second and 6 mbps, and upload speeds from 512 kbps to 768 kbps, BellSouth said.

BellSouth said it may be able to reach 80 percent of the households in its territory with the ADSL2+ technology at a cost of roughly $300 per household.
=================================================
It is a simple upgrade for the DSLAM and to make sure the backhaul to the DSLAM can carry higher bandwidth to and from the DSLAM.

Then the customer upgrades to a ADSL2+ Modem.

I hope to get an Engineering unit to test shortly.

There were some P&N experts saying this would not happen.

Actually dave I believe the only saying there would not be increased bandwidth for customers in the future, was yourself.

Keep the two issues separate.

The first issue is deployment of Technology.

Second is who gets the Technology.

The only correlation between the two is Political and Greed, not Technological.
