This is a "Red Light District." Holland has them and it doesn't do any harm. In fact, it brings hundreds of thousands of tourists to Amsterdam to spend their money and leave.

Not exactly, as the RLD is meant for prostitution, and mj is legal in the Netherlands, no matter where you are.

that has to be one of the stupidest things I have heard in a long time. What motivation would anyone have to go there? If they were living on the streets then sure they might want a warm place but not all drug users fall into this catagory, in fact very few probably do. If the drugs and sex were free then sure that would work but other than that I don't
I am a drug user. I hang around many drug users. Every time I have ever used drugs, the first thing that comes up afterwards is where we should do them. In the wintertime, when it is cold and raining, being indoors is always our top priority. So, speaking from experience, nearly every drug user falls into this catagory.
Besides that, the drugs would be legal in this building. Why get intoxicated on the streets, where you can get caught and go to jail, when you can just go get a room and have it all be legit? Why pick up a prostitute who could be a cop, when you could just go to this building and be guaranteed a successful transaction?

I thought the coffeeshops were all located in the RLD. Maybe I'm wrong, never been.

Get a damn job! What you're in college but you do drugs on the street? Oh, I see you're afraid your RA is going to find out you do drugs and boot you out of school? Listen kid not all people that do drugs are out on the street, most of us have jobs and have places of their own. Also, not all drug users would want to be in a building with other users that they don't know around.
Drug user taking philosophy...wow what a thought
