If the drugs and sex were free then sure that would work but other than that I don't

I am a drug user. I hang around many drug users. Every time I have ever used drugs, the first thing that comes up afterwards is where we should do them. In the wintertime, when it is cold and raining, being indoors is always our top priority. So, speaking from experience, nearly every drug user falls into this catagory.

Besides that, the drugs would be legal in this building. Why get intoxicated on the streets, where you can get caught and go to jail, when you can just go get a room and have it all be legit? Why pick up a prostitute who could be a cop, when you could just go to this building and be guaranteed a successful transaction?

I must disagree here Roger. Though initially there would be more, and newer, people using this "Service". After a period of time it would die down (one way or another).

Please inform me why you think it would die down, an assumption ?

OK smart guy, let's fire all the police officers and lets see how rampant crime gets, you and your book are trying to tell me that that law enforcement has no effect on crime prevention ?

answer me that

Who is the ignorant one, it certainly is not me.

The problem with people like you is that you have no real world experiance, you draw conclusions from books and not experiance.

Such thinking is shown to be patently false in many cases. Fundamental to this somewhat fallacious thinking is the scarcity facet of social psychology. Simply put, independent of the emotional/physical value derived from drug use the credulous often desire it simply for its scarcity value alone

Oh, I forgot to add that I was talking about prostitution, not drug use, read my post.

I don't know what you're talking about, Roger. Did i say that at all? I'm merely saying that threatening actions with punishment hardly addresses the psychological motivator behind these acts in the first place. I am interested in the problem, not the many different manifestations of it. I'm interested in what social and pscyhological factors influence one's decision. Telling someone not to do something for they will be punished is to elicit its scarcity, and sufficient psychological research exists to show that this will significantly increase its desirability independent of any previous desire; in other words, someone not previously interested in something will suddently be very interested once it becomes scarce.

Anyway, I don't pretend to have the answer to the problem of drugs, nor do I pretend to be a critic of the function of law enforcement. I'm merely offering references of human knowledge that might help others better understand the problem.

Incorrect, this would entice many more people into that illicit activity than is now present.

Do you honestly think that law enforcement is not a deterrent to prostitution.

Your first sentence Descartes

I was referring to the generalized action->punishment relationship and its elicitation of social influences, not the effectiveness of law enforcement.

Have a

Then why did you quote this ?

Screw the beer, I'M READY TO FIGHT TO THE DEATH, LET'S GO.

Dammit, I was looking forward to a really good battle :(

My statement was primarily in reference to that line, not the last. I have a tendency to argue only a few sentences of a response yet quote the entire thing. I'm working on it.

Don't hurt me.

Wasn't this the idea behind 'Escape from NY' or 'Escape from LA'??? Both of those movies sucked, IMHO, so therefore the idea must suck too.

Haha :p. No really..Snake Plissken is the man.

And Descartes - you know that talking like you do doesnt't help right? It doesn't make you sound smarter, nor does it get your point across any better. That, and it is getting annoying.

These are wise words. Take heed.

I think this idea sucks because no one wants to go somewhere to do drugs when they can just get stoned at their house. And true addicts would have to live there because they get high all the time. It really makes no sense. It's like asking someone to go somewhere to smoke, when they smoke a pack a day. Are you going to have drug areas at workplaces?

This is a "Red Light District." Holland has them and it doesn't do any harm. In fact, it brings hundreds of thousands of tourists to Amsterdam to spend their money and leave.
