I honestly don't think it's real, and if it is, it was axed they seen how KBLX bombed.

If it was real and ESs were sent out we'd have at least one leaked benchmark.

Seems kind of crazy to put a dual-core on HEDT, but I wouldn't put it past Intel. They want to move mainstream to HEDT, don't they? Or is CoffeeLake evidence that they no longer plan that?

If this is being discussed, then via https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/71t5tq/intel_with_their_hedt_lately/dndll5l/

https://i.imgur.com/pUYsrnI.jpg - is a set of 5 chips, 7640x through 7900x and QM72 is code for 7640x the same as the code on the image of "dual core hedt chip" .. so is it really a different chip under the same id?

From an I5-7640X review:
http://www.computershopper.com/var/...5611-1-eng-US/intel-core-i5-7640x-in-hand.jpg

So it's a fake.

I still think it's happening but the timeline is fuzzy. It would just be the K parts though and not the entire mainstream desktop line, the rest would be BGA only.

No proof that its a Intel slide. Intel has refused to officially share die sizes to the press. please read the below article. We will know on Monday from reviews if Intel officially revealed die size , transistor count or turbo clocks at different core counts

https://videocardz.com/72817/intel-coffelake-s-8th-gen-desktop-and-z370-controversy

And we'll never get confirmation from them. But most of the so-called "rumors" are leaks from legitimate sources. Everything on that table is coming as a product, but we'll never see Intel verify the die size numbers. The table even has the package size information correct for KBL-R. With the information being correct, and if you look at Intel's datasheets that's how they are arranged, with the font and the layout.

> Per Core Overclocking (When more than one core is active, the lower ratio is applied.

Don't we have that already? Different multipliers depending on number of active cores.

Maximum memory rate: 8400 MT/s. I find that bit intriguing; current world record is 5500 MT/s. DDR5-ready? (jk)

There is a memory OC ratio limit on Intels mainstream platform with Skylake and Kabylake. Up to DDR4-4133 is possible. Higher speeds required BCLK OC. They just upped the memory ratio limit it seems. It's basically unlimited now because no DDR4 memory is capable of doing DDR4-8400.

The original leak was correct at the end of the day, they managed to increase the core count and improve Turbo clocks (up to 4.7 GHz) with another iteration of 14nm. All-around looks like an impressive little chip, and I really like the fact that Intel is confident to compare it to Kaby Lake where the latter does best (gaming). Some interesting tidbits:

Intel said:
  • i7-8700K – Intel’s BEST gaming desktop processor ever
  • Up to 195 FPS on Gears of War 4
  • Up to 25% more FPS on Gears of War 4 vs 7th Gen
  • Game + Stream + Record up to 45% better with PUBG vs. 7th Gen
[2] As measured by Gears of War 4 Workload comparing Intel Core i7-8700K Processor (6C/12T) vs. Intel Core i7-7700K Processor (4C/8T)
[3] As measured by Mega-tasking Gaming Scenario on Playerunknown’s battleground comparing Intel Core i7-8700K Processor (6C/12T) vs. Intel Core i7-7700K Processor (4C/8T)

Up to 25% faster than Core i7-7700K @ Gears of War 4. The game doesn't seem to scale much with more than 4C/8T, so I'm guessing extra cache + uncore + faster RAM are helping here. New gaming king in town? :D

I am anxious to see how the 8600k compares to the 8700k in gaming. To me, it seems like the 8600k would be the one to get especially if its under $300.

I think so too.
Well, the 8700k is going to be better than the 8600k of course, but on gaming I don't know how much, 6threads is already enough for most games, and the clock is not that different so I don't think its'going to be THAT much of a difference.
In fact (if the prices are what we've seen so far) Id' rather get an 8600k + GTX1080 instead of a 8700k + GTX1070 for the same $
