Intel i5 2500K 3.3GHz Retail Box at MC....$99.99!!!

Any chance they'll restock?

They get proc inventory every other Saturday night, late. Nothing new until the 25th. Odds might be good they are removing the 2500k from the shelves for good. Search on their site for it, if it's a now show, then it is so!

Hmmmmmmm 70 bucks more.... I get the 3.4 unlocked.....
Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 Processor

And get 40 off a mobo..........

So net is plus 30

Yup. With a motherboard, not as hot of a deal. For CPU itself, smokin'!

how much of an an improvement would this be over an i7-960? I'd probably pair it up with that asrock + ram deal.

I forgot what the oc on my i7 is.

Core i7 975X versus Core i5-2500K

Not your exact CPU, but I tried to match up clock speeds. In fact the i7 is 30MHz higher clock. I think the i5 matches up really well. Combine this with lower power draw and temperatures, plus easily able to overclock higher. IIRC 4-4.2Ghz was achievable on socket 1366, but only with good RAM/mobo/cooling choices and with some luck. With a 2500K, 4.3-4.5GHz is almost a gimme as long as your motherboard and cooling doesn't completely suck.

I'm actually sort of glad I don't have a microcenter around since I may well have bought this even though I really don't need it at all.

Me too. 😳

FOLKS, I can tell you Old Westbury had LOTS at 1 PM

If your store is close... DONT TRUST the website.

For grins and giggles, i took a late lunch, I drove out there.... I wasnt gonna buy the 3570. After walking around for a bit....
I asked the guy "Any 2500's left?" He sad LOTS.....
I sit here... Holding a box with a $249.99 sticker on it and a receipt with $99.99 on it.
If its reasonably close. GO THERE.

ITS A NICE DAY.....

Usually with MC, once it's cleared out of their stock with this kind of sudden drop of pricing, it's long gone. For instance, MC had clearance deal of 2600k around April for $ 199, which is still cheaper than what the other retailers are selling it for right now. Since then, 2600K never got restocked again AFAIK.

So, just drive down there hoping website is wrong... and fortunately, it is not that sophicated system that works 100% of time. That'd be better odd than waiting for it to be restocked.

I saw a post on slickdeals and it appeared that they had more in-store than is displayed online. I could be wrong. Might not be a bad idea to call ahead just to check. Did you get a free $15 coupon from them for their grand opening? If not I can forward you one if you pm me your email.

edit: nm, looks like another guy from towson posted that they're out of stock. he called.

I can vouch for that.... Old Westbury was out at 10:30 AM as per online. I drove there.
LOTS at 1. Well, one less.

I think I EFFED up though. My DVD/CD is EIDE.... I think my new MOBO has no EIDE connections..... SUNNOFABEECH.....

New DVD burners are ~$18.

I know... BUT its a 20 min drive BACK there....
And then 30 minutes HOME.... (Work is closer)

THATS the SUCKAGE part...

I hope BB has a sale... Right now I would take a Tommy Tomato drive.... JUST to build...

Fortunately my sanity,
i3-2100 in the HTPC
Old faithful Q9550 in the VM\test box
2700K in gaming rig

No need for 2500k

awesome price

I see so many great Microcenter deals posted. The nearest to me though is Atlanta, which is 4hrs away.

at least an hour for me each way lol. That's why I called to check and try to reserve one.

I have to wonder how Microcenter gets CPUs so damn cheap. Does Tony Soprano it on their board of directors? Is this a case of an intel shipment "falling off the back of a truck"?

Crazy.... but I do like having one within 50 miles (though I'd still like a Frys nearby for the rest of the stuff)

I jumped on this deal because I still have a P67 board that I haven't yet done anything with since I upgraded a 2600K to a Z68 board - both of which I have since sold off yet still have the P67 doing nothing.

For those who can't make it to the store in time for a deal like this, don't forget you can always put it on reserve for in-store pick up, you don't even have to charge a credit card until you pick it up, although you can charge it online if you want. I reserved mine Friday around 10am and wasn't able to pick it up the same day so it will just be there ready for me when I pick it up sometime Saturday.

They don't get them for cheap, they sell them at a loss to get you into the store with the idea that you end up spending money on other products that net them a profit.

This is impossible for the Tustin, CA store. I truly believe they purpose rig their phone system so it doesn't accept calls. I've tried all day today and got nowhere. It puts you on hold for roughly 16min, then it repeats the key selection. If you press 2 and 1 for sales it just hangs with no tone whatsoever. If you don't press anything it repeats "hello, are you still there" and hangs up. If you're lucky to get a connection and hear a phone ring, it'll ring forever until it takes you back to the menu selection, of which you will repeat the above.

Total BS on the Tustin, CA phone call.

I was talking about online ordering, not phone...I've never tried over phone
