You mean WE think it needs to be seen. Not just the OP. It's big news and should be treated as such. It's actually the biggest CPU news we have had in almost 3 years. So, it belongs in CPU forum of course, but it also has a place here. I don't know what is up everyone's butt today, but get the old crowbar up there and start diggin.
I would have though the widespread availability of dektop and laptop non-enterprise dual core CPUs would be the most newsworthy event of the past three years, but that's just my opinion and I recognize that.
I mean even the K8 architechture was intoducted <3 years ago starting the upswing of AMD marketshare and leading, indirectly, to the overhall of Intel roadmaps concerning Netburt's future.
I don't know how you can make an assertion like that, I realize you're excited but lets not get ahead of ourselves here (six months ahead, to be specific)
I'll contact my lawyer and we will put together a package for you that explicitly explains what I meant. I don't feel like picking apart my post right now to make you happy. We will cover all bases, dot "i's" and cross "t's".
But seriously, I meant for Intel and Intel fans. AND AMD fans, because this changes things for many of them. Dual core was exciting, but the results were "Yeah, thats pretty kewl. But the fact is that not many practical applications support dual core yet and we don't see much benefit for it. So the results of higher clocked single core chips were better than dual core chips in applications that were not multithreaded. There are precious few games that take advantage of multicore cpu's. That will of course change very soon. This Conroe however, marks the end of Intels big snooze since the last PIII chip rolled off their fab lines. So, yes, this is the biggest news since. Moreso than dual core cpu announcement. And, this is my opinion and I recognize that.
