If you are going to go that far analyzing the slide, then what do you make of the large text "Ashok's view (not blessed by CCG)"? Meaning is any of this yet set in stone?

Intel has used MX for multiple purposes in the past. MX was the overclockable mobile Haswell processors. MX is also their Stratix FPGA. My assumption on that slide is the return of overclockable mobile chips. But, Intel could be reusing the letters again for a whole other purpose.
So HX is overclockable desktop dies in mobile, MX is overclockable mobile dies, and it replaces the HK series? AFAIK the HK is overclockable mobile dies too, except it is limited to the top skus, as in the 12900HK and 12980HK.
 
6+8 ARL-S is a replacement for 6+8 MTL-S, it's not a replacement for 8+16 ARL-S.
…and it could mean anything. It could mean Intel 20a/18a are ahead of schedule, or that the chip is launching later, or that ARL-S will be on an external node, or that it will be backported to Intel 4, or that….and the list goes on.

This is also one single die and does not include mobile so I am inclined to think it is simply a capacity issue. My speculation is that mobile is going to take all of the allocated capacity for Intel 4.

Probably yes, at the time that was created. But I'm willingly to believe the leak is genuine. Raichu's been very on the ball, if nothing else.

I don't think that quite fits. Those seem like they'd fall under the H or HX branding, as with existing products. Intel's recently been using "M" to refer to the 10W-ish 2+8 ADL die in the smaller package. Assume MX is more closely related to that, and the branding would certainly match Lunar Lake.
 
Does anyone have benchmarks of Sapphire Rapids for gaming and OC results? I am interested mostly in the 2475X.

Shmee i heard the 2400 series is not worth it.
Step up to the 3435X.
Yes you need 8 sticks of ram vs 4, but you get double the pci-e 5.0 lanes, and 8 channel ddr5.

Unless you really need to do the crunching, 16cores is where i think is the sweet spot is for gaming and mid level content creator.
If you want something more, id just build a surplus EYPC 64c/128t machine.

To my understanding, couldn't you have 4 DIMMs on the 8 channel CPUs? Obviously not using every channel though. Not that it would make a lot of sense, but just because you have 8 channels, I don't think you have to fill them for the system to work. Kinda like when some ppl back in the day would use a dual channel kit of 2 DDR4 DIMMs on their X99 boards.

But yeah, I would probably want more lanes as well, so 3435X might be the one. I wish there were also more motherboard choices. Though, it seems like Emerald Rapids isn't too far off, at the very least I would wait for that. My current CPU is doing fine for now.

And I actually have been using HEDT off and on for quite some time. I have had X58 boards, an X79, and the X99. The X99 is currently in my TrueNAS, and the X79 I gave to my sister.

Emerald Rapids might not get workstation variants, even though the platform remains the same. You would have to wait till next year's Granite Rapids.
 
Did Sunny Cove/Cypress Cove, architecturally, only have an ~10% gain in perf/watt over Skylake? This seems pretty low compared to Zen 3<Zen 2 which had closer to a 15-20% gain in perf/watt.

(power draw at the wall Kitguru, CB 20)
~170 watts, 6 zen 3 cores had ~17% gain in perf/watt
~200 watts, 16 zen 3 cores had ~21% gain in perf/watt
~220 watts, 12 zen 3 cores had ~21% gain in perf/watt
Meanwhile Cypress Cove
6 cypress cove cores ~100 watts (CPU only) had ~9% gain in perf/watt (hardware luxx CB 20)
8 cypress cove cores ~180 watts (CPU only) had ~7% gain in perf/watt (hardware luxx) .

Also the way I ended up doing perf/watt was by matching up similar power consumption among same core count models.

The chip was still on 14nm. Big perf/watt changes typically only happen with node shrinks, though there are exceptions. Zen 2 -> Zen 3, for example.
 
I'm wondering if anyone has iso power - frequency curves for CML vs Cypress Cove, vs GLC, and SNC vs WLC vs GLC. I haven't seen any reviewers really test this stuff.
 
Faster clocks 6ghz all core + faster memory thats will bring 20+ performance over stardard raptor lake.. i see why intel cancled meteor lake intel 7 node is too good 😁✅

Where do you get 20% performance uplift? I would be surprised to see a 20% uplift even in multi threading.
 
So 14th gen is going to use 700 series boards? As in, it makes sense to buy a B760 or Z790 now instead of a 600series board since you could then upgrade down the line to a 14th gen?
Hopefully Intel will allow the Z690/B660/H610 to enjoy the refresh CPUs too. Shouldn't require more than a BIOS update, unless the all core power requirements hit 400W.
 
Raptor Lake Refresh is starting to look like 13900KS being rebranded as 14900K and the rest of the stack getting a slight bump in frequency due to better binning.

Apparently the i7 sku gets 12 little cores, up from 8. They disable 1 of the e-core clusters rather than both of them.
 
Content Review for the 3400 series.

Its pretty much MEH....
But the X CPU the cheapest i could find it for is 1600 dollars:

Again MEH its only available at newegg at that price.

Boards is where it will break you.
This is probably the only board that can full boat handle a 3400 series and all those pci-e lanes.

Yes i pulled the ASUS card, and yes its 1300 dollars and to make it worse, yes i also pulled the newegg card...
Meaning yes you will go bald early from stress.

Excuse me while i start digging my own grave... i think 6 feet is probably deep enough.
Guess im waiting on Storm Peak to see what price points they offer.
But my HEDT gaming desktop is definitely shown its age now.
I need to move onto some other HEDT this gen, as i don't think my current one will hold out any longer.

Base DDR5-6400 would make it a pretty good upgrade for anyone who hasn't upgraded yet. AMD needs to step up and improve their IMC too. 32GB DDR5-8000 with RPL-R for $349 might make it even more tempting.
