$419 isn't too bad. That's only, what, $40-$50 above MSRP? You just bought what may be the best quad-core gaming chip on the market.

Congrats on your purchase, Core i7 5775C is an awesome gaming chip. A comparison to your current system would be welcome.

I appreciate everyone's words of encouragement, thanks. I might have to don the flame suit still, after all a 5820K is going for at least $30 less! But that would also mean a new(ish) platform and DDR4, too. This thing better OC good now that I've told everyone, haha.

Just aim for about 4.2 GHz and you should be fine. Anything over that is gravy. What are you going to use to cool it?

Seems pretty optimistic, but if you can hit that, it would be a great gaming chip with the edram.

Yeah I know Fugger hit 4.8 GHz @ 1.55v under water. I would not go over 1.4v with Intel 14nm chips.

4.4 GHz should be attainable, depending on silicon lottery and all that. Should be interesting to see how it goes.

Besides, my nephew needed a quad core and I like helping out the only other PC enthusiast in our family. I'm not sure if he knows what a deal he got, but I do know he won't be having any CPU-related game problems for a while!

Core i5 5675C for $297.49 ($22.49 above MSRP).
Core i7 5775C for $403.99 ($26.99 above MSRP).

If you are heavily invested in LGA1150 (Z97) with a lot of DDR3 memory and not willing to pay for LGA1151/LGA2011 + DDR4 it might be worth taking a look. Oh, nevermind the low power consumption, best iGPU on the market and the huge eDRAM which clearly benefits dGPU gaming and some applications.

That's a small price to pay for 'science'. And since we're months past the broadwell 'release' date, doesn't really qualify as impatience, so much as a testament to Intel's 14nm supply woes.
