The rest of one's life in prison where you stand a non-zero chance of getting shanked by the Russian mob just to make sure you don't talk or risk having the polonium soup.

Decisions, decisions.

Well, just saw new report that Gates is in fact not going to plea bargain. Hmmm ... certainly explains the new charges.

Some reporting indicates he was dancing with Mueller for a month and rejected several deals. Mueller decided to drop the hammer.

Stupid move on his part. The latest charges appear to be all tax related, coming from FINCEN. He's letting them know he knows everything. Mueller isn't playing. Which is fine with me.

I figure that Gates hasn't been entirely forthcoming or that he can't tell the Special Counsel more than they already know. The latter would be extremely unfortunate for Gates.

Just saw an interview where a reporter (can't remember name or affiliation) slyly suggested that their sources were telling them it was the latter.

I think it’s also important to say that even if nothing else comes of this it is easily the biggest scandal since Iran Contra. Probably bigger.

I'm just continuously amazed at the depth and broadness of information that Mueller has available to him. He's been on the job for about 9 months now and has already dug this very obscure information. You can go two different directions with this and it's based mostly on partisan lines.

1) It's all he has to work with and is grabbing at whatever he can to build a case.
or
2) He has a mountain of more information and is slowly knocking over little dominoes and letting them build up to topple even bigger ones. This is just the beginning.

Which of those you believe is based almost entirely on party lines.

Gates to plead guilty.

A former top adviser to Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign indicted by the special counsel was expected to plead guilty as soon as Friday afternoon, according to two people familiar with his plea agreement, a move that signals he is cooperating with the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

The adviser, Rick Gates, is a longtime political consultant who once served as Mr. Trump’s deputy campaign chairman. The plea deal could be a significant development in the investigation — a sign that Mr. Gates plans to offer incriminating information against his longtime associate and the former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, or other members of the Trump campaign in exchange for a lighter punishment.

Manafort is totally fucked.

So what's' the over/under on presidential pardons here?

Hard to say without knowing the full extent of the charges. Most of the federal crimes that have been charged so far are also state crimes so pardoning people would expose Trump to further damage without actually helping his associates very much.

If it turns out that the charges for important people are mostly or entirely federal I bet Trump pardons every single one. He will do anything to save himself.

The Retarded Agent gives no fucks, 90+ percent chance. Last 10% is arrogance thinking it will never reach him.
