Thank the US for providing Pakistan with surveillance aircraft and F-16's not to mention other weapons systems. Also, we wrote off most of Pakistan's $38 billion worth of debt. Cant believe our leaders treat this terrorist nation like that...... major hypocrisy is what i call it

The westernization of India was one of the topics he covered, though very briefly. The program showed how just a few streets away from the newfound prosperity and opportunities lay another side of India that still seemed to be stuck in the pre-independence era. You could probably search for the articles from the NY Times archives. Friedman pretty much answers your question by stating that globalization is sustainable in India simply because Indians have a way of Indianizing western concepts and ideas. Where western culture is accepted blindly, it will erode and weaken. Where it is adapted and made suitable to the local environment, it will greatly help society progress.
Not everybody will see it the same way, unfortunately. And yes, people will blame westernization for the Delhi Public School scandal. Heck, there are some numbnut Hindu activists trying to get 'Valentine's Day' banned (though that definitely was a creation of Hallmark cards for purely commercial purposes ). But I think the people that are most active in modernizing India will know to look past these things. The future will still reach India, cellphones and sex scandals notwithstanding

I thought the F-16s were never delivered to Pakistan because of the sanctions and once the sanctions were lifted they refused to ship them.
Pakistan has more than 20 F-16's, maybe even close to 40. Some say if we deliver more to them, they'll have about 80 in total
