What a joke!

NEW DELHI: England's Chef de mission Craig Hunter on Thursday said the
arrangements at the Delhi Games village is much better as compared to the
Beijing Olympics.

"The Commonwealth Games Village here is better than the Beijing Olympics,"
Hunter told reporters, adding that the Delhi Games would set a high standard
for the hosts of London Olympics 2012.

"Every Games Village has progressed and this one sets a new standard. In
other Games villages four athletes use one bathroom, whereas here only two
would share one bathroom. Even the training facilities are wonderful," added
Hunter, who has been staying in the capital for the last four days.

The Chef de Mission was also all praise for some Games venues, terming those
as world class.

Asked about the security concerns, Hunter said: "We are happy with the
arrangements and I can say that the pullouts of the players were not due to
security or any other reasons."

"Security has always been an issue since 1972 Munich Olympic disaster. Some
of the athletes, who opted out did so due to packed international calendar
and injuries. However, we do have some Olympic and World Champions coming
for CWG 2010."

damn that is bad. I was born there and lived there for the first 11 yrs of my life, and have been back a few times to visit. I can't say I have ever seen anything there as bad as these pictures. very embarrassing indeed.

Yeah..he's hilarious.

In "Red White and Brown" - He talks about his trip to India - where he's all pumped up to show India that he's Indian. He's demanding the airplane door be opened as soon as they land.

The door opens... and within a split second, he turns back into a Canadian because of the smell. He also mentions that he likes having bare necessities... like toilet paper [whereas Indians use a cup of water to clean their ass off].

what were they doing? washing their butt in the sink? gross

I would like to see DesiPower in this thread with his accusations. I can see either Indian Muslims or Pakistan or Dawood or Maoists are to be blamed, lol.

I still have lazy terrorist sympathizers like you to blame, who cant even read the whole thread unless its in pashto or urdu.

does anyone even know what the commonwealth games are?

Is that bs about Indians not using toilet paper? Please tell me it is, how could a human be so disgusting??

all upper class and most middle class households use toilet paper, but a large majority of the country doesn't.

although, it's arguably cleaner to thoroughly flush and scrub the area with hand + water vs. smearing shit around with a 2 ply piece of paper.

bidets are the best 😀

look at pic #2 they cant even make uniformed bricks... WTF brick making has been around for what 5K years? and they still cant make them right???

Uniformed bricks cost tons more. I have seen them used in India in private infrastructure or buildings where bricks are exposed.

Practically, when you are going to use cement and plaster the wall with cement afterwards, it doesnt matter if bricks are uniformed or not. Plus they are using unskilled labor with no modern machinery to manufacture these bricks to keep the costs down.

When we were in India (mid 90s), these bricks used to cost ~Rs. 1 per brick retail. I dont know the current pricing but it cant be more than Rs.5 now (thats like 10cents max).

That sucks, having cwg there and well organized/prepared could have been a great opportunity for India to improve their image with the rest of the world. Instead everyone sees this mess.

I'm hoping for their sake it is blown out of proportion.

If a majority of the people wipe their ass with their hands can we honestly expect much? REALLY?

allrite man, we get it. you don't think much of indians. jesus.

also, what do you think they use instead of toilet paper in most of the poorer countries in the world?

I have no problems with Indians, but that is fing disgusting. The same would go against any group of people regardless of race. I mean damn, use a rag or something, but your damn hand...COME ON

This should have been an opportunity to demonstrate India's progress and development, since it will be a major world force in years to come. Disappointing that they're not ready for prime time.

Look at the countries that have competed in the CWG: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_Games#Nations.2Fdependencies_that_have_competed

Only six teams have attended every Commonwealth Games: Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales.
All of these are highly developed nations. Now of course, ideally, you want to share the hosting with other countries and not always have it in the same well-developed countries, but looking down at the rest of the list, most are pretty poor nations.

The only other highly developed countries I see are Ireland, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Malta and Malaysia.

WTF are the "Commonwealth Games"? Something only members of the British commonwealth can partake in?

I dunno, i mean child labor can be bad and all, but these pictures look like little Jimmy and Susie or their Indian equivalent were merely hanging out at Daddy's job site for the day. I don't mean to belittle the problem of child labor, but really, how much "work" could these kids actually be doing? Look at picture 8, that's just a 3 year old who happens to be there where his parents are working. The caption says, "This child also worked directly on construction for the games." Doing what??? Pouring concrete? Raising girders? Operating a bulldozer? 🙄 I don't think you can get much "work" out of a 3 year old in ANY culture.
