This is quite possibly the dumbest post I've ever read on this forum, coming close to some of the shit Nemesis1 posts. Congrats.

Dumbest post? Can you point out where I made an error? I never said the whole of the country was like this. In fact there are some very nice places there. I was pointing out that in India there are places EXACTLY like that though. Are you going to tell me that Deshnok in North Rajastan is not a city that worships the Rat? That people go to the rat "park" to feed and pay homage to those things?

Are you not going to tell me these google images for cows in India are not real?

http://www.google.com/images?oe=utf...tle&resnum=1&ved=0CCkQsAQwAA&biw=1079&bih=630

That they are photoshopped or something?

Shut the hell up if you are going to try refuting me with no basis for your refutation.

Or hell, look at the pictures in the original OP. Major parts of India are horrid places to be and live. Absolutely horrid.

Yay for India.

The only country in the world with a whole city population that reveres rats. One of the few countries that cows are sacred and are allowed to roam just about anywhere and shit everywhere. Where people wipe their ass with their left hand so they only shake and eat with their right. There people are literally living stack on one another. Where the food is so gross that EVERYTHING has to be drenched in curry sauce to make it edible. (which is not a knock on their food prepared in the states with actual good ingredients)

Just watch part of slumdog millionaire and it is fairly spot on with the main character's early life as a child. That is still modern India.

Oddly enough, this thread appears to be more of a cesspool than what appears in the pictures.

wow such a insightful post!!! Care to elaborate or have you not learned big words yet?

Sure. Let's start with whether half of all the internet authorities on India in this thread have ever been to the subcontinent.

There is no doubt you will find filthy shit like this in rural places throughout India, but I've been in porta-johns in this first world country we live in that put those pictures to shame. Doesn't make the the US a shithole or its people filthy animals.

This is the interent, everyone's an expert on everything, unless they hold the opposing viewpoint, then they are just idiots.

LOL Mani,

So are you going to refute the fact that these "athlete villages" are not rural? Are you going to refute the fact that most of the laborers for these games are families pulled from rural areas that have no clue what indoor plumping are? Are you going to refute the fact that because these people live in squalor in many places in India, that they don't behave in the same manner in "better" places in India?

Hell, I've seen fresh immigrants from India in the US still cooking with their OWN feces for fuel on their grill. Damn I've smelled that shit burning in the neighborhood HERE and the cops had to come to stop them because all the neighbors were complaining. Yay for HoA agreements for once.

I'm not saying every person from India is a nasty, feces cooking, shit wiping with their hands, defecating where they feel like, rat loving, cow loving, curry eating, smells like a mix of curry and shit, nasty person. However, there are quite a few there that ARE like this and the country as a whole is nasty for it. Yes there are a few rough diamonds mixed in with the shit, but it's really a pain in the ass wading through for the diamonds. Hence the reason for the OP in the first place and why many countries are pulling out of the games.

True story. In many places in rural India they use dried human feces for cooking fuel. Just sometimes when they migrate to more civilized areas finally, they don't always break their old nasty habits.

I went there a few years ago... and really it's a pile of crap. Some of the higher-end areas of the city are okay, but the rest are just shady shops and slums.

Not to mention the putrid smell you breathe in at the airport arrival gate.

I saw that, but I think it was cow feces. I would have asked them but I didn't know the language and we were not in a tour group.

I've never been, but on Ice Road Truckers Deadliest Roads they drove up a mountain in india, and it looked like a place I wouldn't want to go to.

I'm surprised they got away with disrespecting the place like they did though, some of the negative dialog toward India was pretty harsh. The one dude was freaking out through the whole show. It's like the episode was made to show everyone what a shithole India is and allow the drivers to bitch and complain about the place.

Nope, not gonna refute any of that. Never insinuated that I would. I find it despicable as well that people live in filth and squalor in parts of India - it's a partial consequence of a billion people crammed into a country a third the size of ours.

Hell, I've seen fresh immigrants from India in the US still cooking with their OWN feces for fuel on their grill. Damn I've smelled that shit burning in the neighborhood HERE and the cops had to come to stop them because all the neighbors were complaining. Yay for HoA agreements for once.

I call bullshit. I know literally thousands of Indians both here and in India - not a single one has ever even considered cooking with feces. It is true that some villages in India burn cow feces for various purposes, but it is absolutely not at all commonplace to use human feces to that end.

Really? Define "quite a few" Humblepie. I'm of course assuming you've been there and must have a large sample size to draw upon. Also, please be specific about what parts of India you are drawing your sample size from.

The laborers are from rural India, and they are the ones using the restrooms at this point - it should be obvious that they haven't seen indoor plumbing. And I've seen full-fledged restrooms in the US with shit in the sink and smeared on the walls. Hell I just saw that last Oktoberfest. But I'm sure you're going to defend it as "well, those are DRUNK people"... Exactly. That's why they don't reflect on the rest of us.

It's kind of ironic to be accused of this - I almost got into a fight with some Brits at a friend's bachelor party in Iceland because they were talking shit about us "Americans and our guns". I'm born and raised in the US and am an American first, second and third, but my parents are from India and I've been there enough to speak on it more than the "experts" in this thread.

i would still go, but I'd bring a tent and lots of toilet paper. Nothing better then using mother nature as your stomping grounds.
