I think it proves Steve Jobs was of alien technology. He didnt die, he jumped on a passing comet and is coming back to erradicate us silly earthlings by turning our iPhones,iPads, and iPods on us. Kind of a cross between Maximum Overdrive and War of the Worlds.

I thought the original story was this was their entire alien civilization and they just moved planet to planet taking all resources to survive.

How could humans expect them to return with more? Maybe I am remember wrong, but I thought that was the gist of it.

How about POTUS saw more than one swarm of locust when the alien was mind fucking him? We have more than one swarm here on earth. And it is a big damned universe, why would they put all their proverbial eggs in one basket.

This stuff ain't hard to write guys. That is the beauty of science fiction; anything is possible, even probable.

funny how these aliens have all this power to travel across the galaxy and technology far far beyond what we have today, yet Jeff Goldblum was able to plant a virus on the "mother ship" with an old laptop and was able take them all down thanks to a ship that crash landed on earth 20-years ago and even more amazing how the aliens didn't notice it was an old/retired ship.

everything is always just perfect in movies.

Maybe the alien government was as dysfunctional as ours. Newer ships were ordered but sequestration hit... and the shield software had known bugs but the contractor stopped all work when the government refused to increase funds over bid levels and it just never got fixed. A newer version was supposed to be implemented but after spending 20 quatrillion rubarbs, the newer system crashed more than the old one.

I kinda thought they did tbh. Mothership was 1/4 the size of the moon, the president saying he saw the aliens thoughts and "theyre like locusts, their whole civilization moving from planet to planet, once they consume every natural resource they move on".
