anybody see this yet?

Fox, which is releasing the movie, waited to screen the film until opening day, which suggests that the studio realized critics probably wouldn't be its co-pilot on this one. Nevertheless, in what can be seen either as optimism or hubris, "Independence Day: Resurgence" works in a rather obvious set-up for a sequel before it's all over.

not a good sign.
but also not surprised

How did that crazy scientist survive?

I had actually skimmed through some of the first movie when after they were giving away copies and thought that he looked a lot like someone I had seen in the trailer. Later I read an article and it said something along the lines of the alien ended up putting him into a coma.

On DVD in 4 weeks I bet.
And we're talking the $5 DVD walmart bin.

And to make things worse, they plan on a third installment.
Except for next time, "WE WILL KICK "THEIR" ALIEN ASS". (hint hint)

Just wait for the new 'virus' they have to make to take the new ship now.
Maybe the aliens have better firewalls this time around? ;)

Saw this at an early preview and again at a matinee, seems like this movie has been in a coma for 20-years and just woke up to piss us all off.

In Independence Day 3: We infect the mothership with Windows 10 which completely screws up all their systems.

Edit: Received a free ticket in the BluRay of ID1 to see ID2.

You mean, a forced upgrade will fail and the ship crashes to earth.

It's production budget was $165 million, and it had a huge marketing budget. It probably need $400 million to break even.
