Price aside, I think there are better burgers than In-n-Out. I'm not saying that I don't like In-n-Out; I eat there about once a week, but on more than one occasion, I have had uncooked fries (three times) , and a not completely cooked patty (twice). Sometimes they toast the bun well (with the butter and whatnot), and sometimes it doesn't taste toasted at all. I do like how the lettuce and tomatoes are cold and crisp in the burger, it gives it a good texture.
I like In-n-Out because they are a pretty good value for the amount of money paid, however, the size of the meat in a "hamburger" from them is rather small compared to other "hamburgers."
I do not to let the price of a burger affect how it tastes to me, or how good it is. Letting the price play a role in judging a burger would mean how good a value it is, [how good it tastes for the money paid]. Thats just what I think.
That being said, the best burger I've ever eaten was at a truck stop in Montana (forgot the name). 1/3lb freshly made beef patty, fresh daily made buns, and grilled on charcoal. Fries came with the meal and were excelent. Too bad I live in California.
