Who here on ATOT really think communism works? I would think that if implented, it wouldn't work...but on the same notion I don't think communism even really existed. North Korea just seems like the isolated ultra-authoritarian state that no one really wants to do business with, which is also probably why their economy sucks arse. Go look at other fairly authoritarian states like Singapore and you don't see them failing.

Although on a tangent...I feel sad for everyone living near those bright lights...never to get a chance to see the sky~ rather instead of seeing a dark night with many stars, you only see the major ones...or even worse in major metropolitan areas you get a grey sky and can barely see ANY stars. Right now i'm stuck with the "see major stars only"...and want to go to the mountains in a cabin so a person can experience what a night should look like

That's only the national debt. I think if you count the personal debts, USA would be in the lead. However, I am no economist. It's obvious that on the level of everyday living conditions, an average person in a capitalist society is better off than in a communist one.

Great comment (no pun intended).

On the Communism vs. Democracy notion, there are MANY things that rule even in a socialist society :) Freedom is sparce anywhere you look. In USA, for an average member of the population, it's practically unattainable similarly to a member of totalitarian state.

According to the CIA World Factbook North Korea has half the population of South Korea yet produces approximately 10% as much electricity, and and has 4% as many telephone main lines in use.

There is a huge difference between the two countries in terms of modern amenities available to the populous.

"We"? You mean the rich corporations, etc? That's not their debt, hence why should they or you pay? I know the people could, but can the government?

Good link. Too bad there is no long-term forecast

I could tell from your posts that you're from Canada.

God bless the Queen.
