In 'n' Out has a different philosophy regarding food and service in general. First of all, their food is great. It's fresh, it's convenient, it's easy (if you really want a chicken burger, or fake steak sandwich, or salad, then really, you can go eat somewhere else). They hire employees that speak English (not to generalize, but truly, In 'n' Out service is tops, and they pay about $2/hr. more than other restaurants, I hear). They don't grab your burger off a heating tray, they cook it right then and there. Yeah, you have to wait, but really, 5-10 minutes? Big deal. And, most people don't know, but you can truly order customized burgers. Their menu only lists 3, but there exist a couple different types (I don't go there all that often so I don't know the lingo that well, but there's at least a 4 x 4, 4 patties, 4 slices of cheese, and there's animal style, which is...well, grilled onions and something else). You might've seen the webpage with a guy swallowing down a 17-pattie version of their burgers--now that's customized, disgusting, but customized.
I don't suppose I can expect anyone else to like their food just because I do, but I find it far superior to other fast food restaurants. Jack in the Box is okay, but nothing particularly special. I'd rate it around Carl's Jr., maybe a little better.
