and what do they mean? like anima style?
All I know is Animal Style, (loads of grilled onions on it) Veggie Style, (no bun, wrapped in lettuce instead, A.K.A. Protein Style) and 4-by-4. (A.K.A. 4x4: 4 patties, 4 slices of cheese. You can do X-by-Y for pretty much any number combo you want)

Whoever was in Washington and was complaining about Dick's: do you have a Zips/Zippy's in the area? I have to say Zips is the only chain I've known that can outdo In n' Out in the cheap-but-good burger category. They're locally owned if I remember, sort of a Mom & Pop version of the chain restaurant, but damn good.

Saying you prefer a "regular" fast food place over In and Out is like saying you enjoy getting kicked in the balls more than having sex. Yeah, maybe it's not sex with Denise Richards, but it's still better than getting kicked in the balls.

More than likely they were grinding the f%$#ing meat to make your burger. In n' Out is the only chain I know of that makes their own ground beef. In the restaurants that do it you can usually watch them make it.

As far as menu items go, yeah, not a lot on the menu. But there shouldn't be a lot on the menu. They make burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes, and they do it well because they focus everything on that. That's why they're called In n' out Burger. And think about it: 50% of the menu items at BK are just burgers with different stuff on 'em. You can ask for different things on your burger -- there's a whole list of not-on-the-menu orders you can make -- and get it pretty much how you want it.

In n' Out is packed for a reason: it's good. If you didn't like your burger try ordering it with different things on it next time, or go to a different location. But if you somehow get the idea that it's just a dressed-up McD's or BK you've got to be high.

Onion rings? Where did you find onion rings at? None of the ones in California or Nevada that I've been to have onion rings.

in and out is all right, some people think its better then it actually is. each one verys. if you go to an 'old' in an out they arnt that good because the grill could be very old and almost disgusting to eat a burger off of. some 'new' in n outs have newer grils and you can actually taste the difference. the secret menu is cool too.

i usually get a 3 by 3 animal style(grilled onions & pickles) with no sauce(comes with mustard and ketchup) and a neopolitin shake(chocolate, vanilla and strawberry mixed in one) and their frys arnt that good, its just frys, they can never be that great.

i had a friend who worked at in n out and she said they always gave the cops food for free.... stupid pigs

edit: ya, what in n out has onion rings? if i knew they had onion rings id stop ordeing frys. im pretty sure they dont, unless its a particular in n out.

can't search for it now, but i'm 100% sure it's online somewhere, the local news did a whole special on it, that's how dull san jose gets i guess

i like jackin the box too =\

But yea, i love in n out, but only when i'm at home. The way my friend describes an in n out burger, just makes me want one. He describes each perfectly made elements and.. oh .. my.. well, heading out to in n out now, later.

I'd like to add that while in California I ate at Carl Jr.'s, and it was freaking amazing. It was the kind of burger that, between bites, you stare at it in amazement.

Double Bacon Cheeseburger is what I had.
