my crazy brother is thinking about getting into a new car again, an e92 M3 this time around...he said he might have a buyer for his e36 M3 as early as Tuesday, so i thought it would be wise to take some pictures of the cars together just in case the e36 sells soon...

No money left over for proper sized tires? :)
lol no...the BMW is my brother's daily driver and he never tracks it, so mostly he just cares about the stance and the appearance. he runs stretched tires to keep from rubbing the fenders, even though they're rolled and pulled to cope w/ the ridiculous wheel offset...

Great cars! I have deep love affair for E36s. I think the offset looks great. How does it handle?

surprisingly it still handles just as an e36 M3 should. its actually on the straights where traction can be a problem...on the throttle that is. between the negative camber and the narrow tires, straight line traction can be a challenge w/ 580whp.

he has a few buyers on the line already, all of which love the car as is, including the stance...so that's not gonna hinder the sale. besides, a buyer could easily factor in an appropriately sized replacement set of wheels and tires if they don't like that aspect of the car...someone looking for a gem of an M3 isn't going to let something like that spoil the deal.

Far from rice blasphemy . If you don't like stanced cars that's fine. Calling a car that nice ricy is kinda ignorant.

It has nothing to do with how "nice" the car is. You can do "ricey" stuff to a nice car.

Sorry, but that stance qualifies. Not being able to clear a speed bump or an inclined driveway and having rubbing issues when you turn the wheel, that's just bad suspension sense. That's 'show' over 'go', which, in essence, is rice.

That car looks stupid. I never understood the desire to have your car make you look like a 13-year-old.

Thats how I would put it

Can't put power down in a straight line? :(

Supra looks really nice! :awe:

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say the traction problems are from the horspeower figures.

Can't believe the hate. Reminds me of the guys who dissed my ninja 900 in the early eighties. Called me a ricer then.
When we did our first sr20 swap into lowered 240 they called me ricer. They usually stopped when they were 10 car lengths back.

no, he can...just not as well as he used to when he had 275's and less negative camber out back (when his stance wasn't so aggressive)...and thanks for the compliment.

agreed. the M3 doesn't have any of the problem you mentioned though...save for clearing some speed bumps and driveways, which many lowered cars have problems with. heck, bone stock Ferraris and such have trouble clearing certain curbs and driveways around town...tell their engineers that they have bad suspension sense lol...

sorry, but "show over go" is not essentially rice. i can think of a million cars that are more show than go, and are the farthest thing from riced out. i don't disagree with you that a particular stance can be ricey...but you seem to be confused about the difference between stanced and riced out.

i understand you don't like what you see...and that's fine b/c everyone is entitled to an opinion. but labeling something ricey when its not is a bit presumptuous. most people either love or hate an aggressive stance...but more often than not the ones who express dislike confuse their feelings about the car w/ rice, or at the very least lump it into the same category where it doesn't belong. just to clear things up for you, the following are examples of overly aggressive and ricey stances:

...if you can't figure out why these stances are ricey and the M3's is not, then this may as well be a lost cause...i just thought i'd be a good forum neighbor and point out the difference.

It is confusing to see tons of power mods and wheel/tire setups incapable of putting it down in a meaningful way.

Edit: I bet it looked awesome with 275s and less camber... I never understood the 'stanced' look. Far be it from me to criticize someone for doing something silly with their car though. :awe:

That's what it doesn't matter how much power or how many engine mods a person has. You know all you need to know about fast cars by looking at the tires. If you see a Mustang with 15 inch rear wheels and a mile of sidewall, or a Civic with fancy 19" alloys in the rear but 14" dog piss encrusted steelies on the front with flat tires inflated to 15 psi, you know you need to be on the ball. :awe:

i should clarify that the car has evolved over time...albeit a fairly short period of time. it went from a weekend/track toy to a daily driver...hence the move from "form follows function" to "form over function," since it went from spending more time on track to spending more time on the streets. my brother didn't built this car w/ both high-HP and stance in mind - it started out as a pure performance machine and got more laid back from there...

That's cool, I'm trying not to sip on the haterade. I guess your roads must be very smooth though, I'd bent the sh!t out of those wheels and blow out all of the tires if I tried to DD that car where I live and how I drive. :D

werd...although i must admit that once he gets rolling (and standing traction is no longer and issue), he surprises alot of people. most folks that come of from behind see 245's stretched on 10.5" wheels and assume its only aesthetically modified...so much so that even on the skinny rubber he's managed to humble quite a few Z06's/Terminators/Supras, both stock and modified. he does miss the all out performance and straight line speed he used to have, but he's quite content knowing that with 580whp, he's still faster than most folks around town...

i hear ya LOL! i love BMW Hell Red, and i love Tiffany Blue on the wheels, but when my brother brought the car over for the first time, i couldn't convince myself that they went well together. its grown on me since, but its not something i would do w/ my car either...my brother likes to be different in a "stand-out" kind of way haha...

But it looks very "aggressive" with it's wheels all crooked and god forbid if you turn and hit a bump because that would cause the wheel to hit the fender, possibly damage it
