werd...although i must admit that once he gets rolling (and standing traction is no longer and issue), he surprises alot of people. most folks that come of from behind see 245's stretched on 10.5" wheels and assume its only aesthetically modified...so much so that even on the skinny rubber he's managed to humble quite a few Z06's/Terminators/Supras, both stock and modified. he does miss the all out performance and straight line speed he used to have, but he's quite content knowing that with 580whp, he's still faster than most folks around town...

I'd like to see a 1/4 pass with the current setup. 2.5' 60', 12.9 at 130mph :p

It is confusing to see tons of power mods and wheel/tire setups incapable of putting it down in a meaningful way.

Edit: I bet it looked awesome with 275s and less camber... I never understood the 'stanced' look. Far be it from me to criticize someone for doing something silly with their car though. :awe:

That car isnt gonna embarrass an sti off the line anyway. Most people just care about highway pulls these days anyways.

Does the car hook up fine in third?

for the record I wouldnt go that crazy stancing a car out for myself but I have done it for friends for a while.

Funny thing that car almost qualifies as a sleeper lol

I find it funny that guys are cool using lowering springs on cars with stock suspensions ruining the ride but when it comes to crazy camber NOOO THATS RICER

money shots are coming...but you'd be surprised just how "stock" the M3 looks under the hood. big HP doesn't always mean the engine bay is going to look all that much different from stock. it depends on the location of the power adders. your supercharger sits right on top of the motor and is easy to see the instant the hood is raised. my brother's turbo is a bottom mount SC-61 (or something like that, i don't remember the specifics), so you don't see it from the engine bay...take a peek under the car and you'll see it though...

hellaflush setups sort of fit on certain cars... VW... Audi.... Infiniti.. I dunno it just seems a little abusive to do that to a real e36 m3.

And 580whp is a LOT. I also would like to hear his mod list or see a dyno pic or something, because that's flat out insane for someone who leaves their car 2" off the ground.

i think on high boost (580whp) he can spin the tires all the way through 3rd if he pops the clutch. if he doesn't shift into 3rd too hard, then he just gets a chirp at first...he can then plant his foot and traction holds through 3rd.

*EDIT* - i'll see if my brother still has a dyno sheet laying around...and again, as i said before, you have to remember that this car wasn't 2" off the ground w/ stretched tires when he originally built the car for 550-600whp.

Cool, I have been toying the idea of a boosted e30 and would love to know his build.

Love the Supra. M3 is meh, but I will always have a very very soft spot for those Supra's.

I always liked those Supras. Looks just about perfect. Even the previous generation looked kinda cool at the time...like a poor mans Corvette.

thanks for the compliments everyone :). i was never a big fan of the MKIII Supra as far as styling went, although i have to admit that they can be quite attractive and intimidating at the same time when done up right.

Why are the wheels painted 50 year old neglected in ground swimming pool turquoise blue?
come one now...if anything, they look like "brand new, non-neglected, yet-to-be-swam in" swimming pool turquoise blue ;). as i said earlier in the thread, my brother just likes to be unique in a "stand-out" kinda way...its definitely a "love it or hate it" look.

I never understood the term "poor man's Corvette" when Corvettes aren't expensive.

You would actually have to pay the same or more for a 94 Toyota than you would for a 2008 C6 anyway.

Any average Joe with a lame job and financing a average new $30k+ car like Maxima, Camry, 3 series, etc could afford and be driving a used C6 Corvette or Supra if they wanted too.

Supra looks nice, although I was never a fan of the factory park bench spoilers. It doesn't look too out of place on the Supras though.

The BMW, eh. The "stance" is what I don't like about it. I mean I can see a drop, and I can see flushing out the wheel wells if the factory rims are inset quite a bit. Stretching tires and lots of negative camber (the camber doesn't look that bad on this car though IMO) really turns me off. It doesn't look good IMO no matter how much lower it lets you go, and you lose performance on top of it. They're called "side"walls for a reason. ;)

Its not that difficult to understand. Corvette is the standard, and the Supra was like it, but with less performance and costs less. I was actually referring to A70/Mark III as a poor man's Corvette, but lets look at a 92 Corvette vs a 92 Supra, since those Supra's are better:

Excuse the formatting, I don't want to spend a lot of time on this.

Code:
1992 Chevrolet Corvette 1992 Toyota Supra
MSRP $31,378 - $40,145 $26,290 - $30,960
Destination Charge $550 $295
Invoice Price $26,358 - $34,444 $21,558 - $25,387
Available Engines 375-hp 5.7-liter V-8 (regular gas) 200-hp 3.0-liter I-6 (regular gas)
                                     300-hp 5.7-liter V-8 (regular gas)	232-hp 3.0-liter I-6 (regular gas)

Available Transmissions 6-spd man w/OD 4-spd automatic w/OD
                                     4-spd automatic w/OD 5-spd man w/OD

Taken from Cars.com. Low end Corvette was better than the maxed out Supra, but it also cost more. Hence, the Supra was a poor mans Corvette. You got a similar style at a lower price, but it wasn't the real thing. The 92-02 Supra has done better as far as resale, but thats due to the Fast and Furious crowd, not necessarily performance. As time went on, the Corvette distanced itself even further performance and cost wise. You can obviously like a Supra for reasons other than being a "poor man's Corvette", but thats what I meant by it.

... I kid :D

I don't think the stance looks bad, just not too crazy about the color combo personally. Like the supra though, what color is that? It's like a deep root beer-ish color which I think really works on it.

Always been a fan of the wheels too.

Is the wing on the bimmer stock?

Nice cars

Not a fan of that M3, too flamboyant but different strokes for different folks.

Supra looks tight

yeah we joke around about the colors alot too...if he added a splash of yellow, he could become the spokesperson for Busch Garden's Kumba:

the Supra is finished in factory 1A1 "Anthracite." the wing on the M3 is an carbon fiber replica of the factory wing that came standard on the e36 M3 LTW (Lightweight).

Damn that Supra is tits. Not only do I like JZA80 TTs but I like all my cars in a dark metallic charcoal color. You need a freshly waxed HDR night shot under the city lights.

When I do paint/body on the 95 Camry I'm considering a Ford Dark Shadow Grey to match my Cobra. Car is already whatever the darkest factory Toyota grey for that car so it wouldn't be too much work.

Oh God, why would you make an M3 look like a Civic or Accord?

most people either love or hate an aggressive stance...

It's not an aggressive stance, though. The stock M3 has an aggressive stance. What your brother has done is just completely screw that up to make it look ridiculous.

funny that you used Work Meisters as an example...he had Meisters on his old car:

P1010056.jpg

Your brother is hereby banned from sizing wheels/tires for his cars on his own.

(The Supra's are just about perfect, though)

That supra is the shit. All around exactly what i would want my supra (if I had one) to look like. Subtle, yet frightening. Makes me happy in my pants.

The M3 on the other hand: too much flash for my taste, but I dont mind the stance at all. I think it looks pretty good TBH. That car would never survive the roads I drive though. The color combo is... just ... weird. It screams "I try too hard".
