I say term limits for those in congress. Mitch McConnell has more power than any president. And Chuck Grassley has pocketed sooooo much money from doing the bidding of the banks it makes ones head spin. We must have term limits so that Mitch McConnell can not happen. And I include Nancy Pelosi in that too, they all need to be term limited to limit the damage that they can do.

An impeachment trial without calling people like Rudy, Powel and their lackeys up to testify was a huge waste of time. They were able to blatantly lie in public sham hearings because they were not under oath. They had a chance to call people like Mellissa Carone, put her under other and have her admit she was nothing but a temp worker hired to clean glass on the voting machines. After exposing those lackeys as frauds, pull Rudy and Powel up to explain why they helped spread those lies. Then pull in all the politicians Trump likely pressured to overturn the election and see what they had to say. Outcome would probably be the same but at least Trump's BS would be on full display.
 
I would say, time for Democrats to storm the capitol hunting for republicans, but I have a better idea. First, for Democrats to expand the US Supreme Court to 12 or 16, THEN... shove thru this next stimulus using only Democrats and the reconciliation process. Expanding the high court then enacting reconciliation would be as violent as rushing the capitol minus the bloodshed. Democrats, Joe Biden, GET TO WORK!!!! No more namby pamby BS. Republicans have set the stage, and now no holes barred.

Trump became possible because Obama used executive orders because Mitch blocked everything? What are you smoking? Trump didn't run on Obama's executive orders, he ran on xenophobia, ultra-nationalism and relied on the ignorance of the GOP base. That's how he won the primaries and then barely won the presidency. Short term thinking, that will end up being a long term disaster. Every time the presidency changes sides the court will expand. So every four or eight years we end up undoing what the last administration did. No continuity, no plan, just win and get what we want right now without regard to what happens next year.

Ruling by emotion doesn't work. Addressing crazy with more crazy isn't the answer. We need sanity, we need calm, we need to think about how we govern, not about how we get even.

Except that the reason Biden is able to do so much via executive orders is because much of what he's been doing is simply undoing Trump's executive orders. What's passed by 'fiat' can be undone by 'fiat'. As much as I an unimpressed by the US system of government, as far as I can see, that one's a somewhat self-limiting "problem".
 
So has anyone heard Schumer or Raskin explain on the record why, after a vote to allow witnesses passed 55-45 and they were ready to depose their first witness... they changed their minds? Did Team Biden ask them to wrap it up? Did McConnell make promises? Ore were they all just clamoring for vacation??

I think that the main reason was to get Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Buetler's words in the historical record. Her words refute the defenses statement that the orange menace didn't know that pence was in trouble during the insurrection. Remember that they claimed Sen tuberville's words about the phone call from the orange menace was hearsay.

Lead manager Raskin, speaking after the verdict did say that calling more witnesses would not have changed any minds.

The movie that played out in that theater was the biggest political horror movie of our lifetimes. We got to see the Oscar nominating performance of 43 GOP cowards declare support of a criminal who incited a riot, committing impeachable offences and then voted for acquittal while setting a precedent that the Donald Trumps of the world will never be held truly accountable. That movie will be played over and over in the theater of public opinion for years and years to come. The longest running horror movie in history played for for the sake of history and precedent. That theater will never go out of business. The long running movie that the Trumps and future Trumps can fuck up so badly and still evade consequences. The movie conspiracy named "Stop the Steal", Trump was the leader. He had the leading role in this film. The true star. The sequel to this horror film will be callled - "Next time, we need to try even harder to murder our politicians doing their constitutional duty of peaceful transition of power.
