I'm worried that Sarah Palin's going to be our next President.

Oh goody, another Palin thread just because there is nothing serious to talk about today. TGIF!

Y'all know my opinion, it hasn't changed since she became the nominee for VP the last go around. She has every chance to win the Presidency should she choose to make a fight of it.

Palin is someone who has more smarts and more experience than most give her credit for. Especially now, after all of the partisan Dems have acted as such attack dogs and toughened her up, let her know how they play the game.

She has a tenacious will to win, but her way of winning is not going to be yours.

Is she a Reagan? No! But she is someone who seems to me very like Teddy Roosevelt in presentation, not in policy positions. I could imagine the two of them going on a hunt or on a river expedition and getting along fine. I haven't seen her new show on Alaska, but you get what I mean if you have. BTW, how many aspiring Presidential candidates have a weekly TV show that the whole family can tune in and enjoy and do, to the tune of five million viewers?

She has a very loyal following as lots of people admire frontierism, including me. A passionate base is essential. McCain did not have one and that is why he lost.

Yes, she will have to present a solution to the problems at hand that everyone else thinks makes more sense than Obama, does anyone think that is especially hard? I don't think she can run solely as an anti-Obama, but give the Dems another two years and it might just be that an "anyone but Obama" fervor could sweep her into office.

For all of you hoping that the taint of scandal will keep her down, keep dreaming. All of those efforts were only spurious political attacks and had no substance whatsoever.

What might keep her down would be the appearance of a candidate that has some level of her charisma and a strong economic background, throw a military background in for a perfect blend as we will likely see a global conflict down the line of some sort.

I'll end here as I need another espresso, but take a gander at this excellent and insightful article and tell me who is better positioned to win the Republican nomination, and maybe the White House, than Palin -

Palin Aides Relish Beltway's Skepticism

Well considering what an authority PJABBER is on everything else, I'm sure he's dead on with his 2012 electoral analysis.

Perhaps he can present the polling information that show Palin matching up favorable to Obama that Spidey has run away in fear from?

Too early for polls to make any sense. Let's revisit in six months and then in a year.

If Palin is in charge of the united states, I'm moving to Canada.

LOL, you live in Texas, about the only place outside of DC where you can get a job! And you want to move to Canada to do what, be a commercial fisherman like Todd Palin?

I tell you what, if you are serious, if Palin wins the Presidency you move to the Northwest Territories or Nunavut and I will move to... Paris!

Just for the month of January, as I would like to be in DC for the Inauguration. But if you would like to stay there (the Northern Lights are absolutely spectacular, you will be amazed!) that will be OK with me! :awe:

every time pelosi opens her yap the liberals will sink deeper in the green slime. Anything can happen.

A nice cup of brew and comedy too boot......hahaaaa

Sarah Pahlin is loved by millions. They adore her because she is a real woman and real American who is not afraid to speak her mind. Most politicians fear her. If there is anyone who is feared by most established politicians and the media, that is the person for me. Do you really want to vote for another crooked established liar and cheat of a politician?

Ask yourself this question: "Why did the press and the Democratic party fail to elect the first female president?"

It is because the Democratic Party Hates Women!

Polls now showing that an empty chair is now leading among future presidential candidate possibilities. Voters explained "sometimes nothing is better than something".

Yes if only middle-aged white males could vote then Palin would be POTUS.

You guys still have 2 years of disenfranchising to do, better get on it!

Someone start a 'I'm worried that Barack Obama's going to be our next President.' parody thread. I'd do it, but I'm sure it'd get locked right away if I do it.. 🙂

Palin is someone who has more smarts and more experience than most give her credit for.

Idiots are not known for their discernment.

Sarah Palin is to political discussion what pseudoscience is to science. She copies the form but is without substance. This fools people who are too stupid to realize that form does not necessitate substance.

Government and reality are mechanistic devices. They do not operate on puppydogs and sunshine. If you yell, "Freedom," there is no magical translation device that will turn that into government procedure. "Down with big government," does not decide which programs to cut. "Build the fence," says neither where the money will come from nor exactly how those dollars are to be disbursed.
Sarah Palin consistently shows that she has no idea how to connect ideas to reality. She is all show with not a clue as to how to make anything go.

Especially now, after all of the partisan Dems have acted as such attack dogs and toughened her up, let her know how they play the game.

Just how far gone are you into fanboi-ism that you have linked yourself to image?
That she has learned that it is absolutely necessary for her to deflect around her core incompetence does not make her competent, just as a liar becoming a better liar does not mean he's now honest, and a criminal learning not to get caught does not make him a law-abiding citizen.

Image != truth.

You should date my little sister. Normally I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, but you are badly in need of a dose of reality. Of course, that wouldn't be guaranteed to work. You could end up killing her and blaming yourself. That would leave your mind hanging in a difficult position, being that understanding would still be beyond you and the dose of reality from which you could learn the errors in your thought patterns would be removed.
Meh.

I actually agree with this. Say what you want about Hilary but does ANYONE doubt she would have been a better president? Instead when I listened to democrats I heard more vitriol lobbed at her when running against Obama than I later heard from those people towards Palin.

And of course the media/politicians/most liberals actually fear her. She's an independent woman that's not beholden to the system. Liberals are all about infantalizing people and forcing them to become dependent on the liberal government. So someone like Palin that doesn't owe them jack-shit and has done it 'on her own' is their worst nightmare. A free-thinking woman who's not beholden to some liberal government-program is a liberal government's worst nightmare.

You have really bizarre and delusional ideas about liberals stand for.

And yes, I believe Obama has been a far better president than Hillary would have been.

Trust me, Palin is my dream candidate for the Republican party. She is by far the weakest candidate they could possibly field, and she would be crushed in a Mondale-style landslide. Of course Republicans aren't stupid and they know this, which is why they would never nominate her for president. (if you can convince them otherwise though, PLEASE DO. It would be a dream come true)

I have a feeling she's going to run, but that she won't win the Republican nomination. However, I have this other feeling that I should never, ever underestimate the collective stupidity of the American public.

Idiots are not known for their discernment.

Sure they are. By definition, idiots are those with whom you disagree. They discern as easily as you do.

Sarah Palin is to political discussion what pseudoscience is to science. She copies the form but is without substance. This fools people who are too stupid to realize that form does not necessitate substance.
I am quite sure that what she considers substantive is not what you consider substantive. And that is the issue with her as a candidate and as a successful politician, which you cannot deny that she is. Her viewpoint is one that resonates with so many people and not at all with others, mostly those who have lived their lives in a box in some urban landscape. Spend a month or so where nature rules and you might get an inkling. Or not.

That is right, except that the greater the impact of government the less freedom you will have. Societal controls are the antithesis of personal freedom and choice. As we live in community we do need a balance between the need of the tribe and the need of the individual to not be encroached upon. The argument being made is that the fine and sensitive balance has been thrown very much out of kilter and that there needs to be a rollback of overly intrusive government. Few would advocate anarchy, but this country is one of few that has traditionally valued individualism over group think and many want us as a society to turn back.

Sarah Palin consistently shows that she has no idea how to connect ideas to reality. She is all show and no go.

It is you that show that you do not understand her message and what she represents.

Just how far gone are you into fanboi-ism that you have linked yourself to image?

Do you really think her popularity is all about image?

You have allowed your cynicism to blind you to authenticity.

That she has learned that it is absolutely necessary for her to deflect around her core incompetence does not make her competent, just as a liar becoming a better liar does not mean he's now honest, and a criminal learning not to get caught does not make him a law-abiding citizen.

You believe that a person cannot grow or learn past some early point in their life. I can assure you they can and it is a joy to see that when it happens. I suggest you read her book Going Rogue to see how it happened in her case. You might be surprised.

Image != truth.

We have a President who was just elected solely because of his image and ability to render a telepromptered speech and not because of any great competence or history of achievements. We are suffering as a nation as a result.

Palin has not lived a life that you understand or care to consider, but my argument has always been that there are many people that do and more that see in her their unfulfilled dreams, a most visceral response.

Look at a map of how the country just voted, the stark division between the liberal urban centers and the vast areas that do not identify with that perspective. Do you seriously think that the urban masses, living in their little boxes, are going to predominate in two years? Choose the empty suit that Obama is for another four years?

Emboldened by Liza Murkowski's write in victory in Alaska, Sarah Palin will create her own party the "Momma Grizzly" party yeknow 🙂

Geographic size is irrelevant, it's all about what percentage of the population lives in urban centers. Currently 80% of the US population lives in urban areas, and that percentage is increasing.

Palin is one of the most unpopular public figures in the country, she will not be nominated for president, and if by some incredible luck she is, she will be crushed, with me laughing at her the whole time. Okay, with most of America and the rest of the world laughing at her the whole time.
