What those photos don't show you is the man behind the camera, a depraved and hopeless individual that can afford the world but can not find anything better to do but furnish the surroundings of his television set.

EDIT: Except for the second to last guy who is probably a heroin addict on account of his musical inclinations.

If this is all one and the same house, then it's impressive. Otherwise - too much money spent on TV.

Those are pretty cool. Unlike most people, I will not begrudge what someone decides to spend their money on.

You can still judge them on good taste and smart choices, though. Or make an empathic statement, putting yourself at their place.

I looked at #6 and I was like, holy crap did someone really model their movie room after the Ponderosa Ranch? Of course now that I Google it, it looks nothing like the Ponderosa Ranch inside, but it's the first thing I thought of when I saw that.

My mom absolutely loved Bonanza.

I wonder if he actually plays.

The second guy has too many distractions in front of the screen. And is that Eve on the three-panel setup?

Nice rooms, though. I'm jealous.

Bwahahahaha 60" on top of a mantle with shit speakers taped to the walls around it.. Man that's classy right thur.

Well, it's 100", which is the biggest you could get on top of the mantle and there's no other place in the room to really put a screen. Wife really wanted to do a 200" on the wall to the left, but that would have put the seating right in the walkway between the kitchen and the living room.

The speakers aren't taped. They're mounted. The one on the left is off the mount right now because there's no place else to put the DVD shelf. Still thinking about it. The two on the front are 'front high' speakers, the rears are by the seating, but thinking of pulling them because I don't think I really need them.

Yes, they're from a HTIB, but it's actually a pretty nice Onkyo HTIB that came with a real receiver. They're obviously not the best but they're plenty loud for the room and actually sound great. It took me about 4 months to pick that HTIB because I couldn't afford a receiver and speakers and such on their own, so I'm pretty happy with this choice. The main issue I have now is that I'm out of HDMI ports on the receiver but I'll just have to work around it.

Plans for next year are a 120" motorized screen hooked up to the PJ with a trigger and a 50" or so cheap plasma or LCD mounted behind it to be used for "regular" viewing of things like news in the morning or something. I have to use my iPad and SlingPlayer to watch news in the morning because you can't short cycle a projector, and the PJ is the only TV in the house.

lol tosh said that in one of his old specials that i caught on tv a couple weeks ago.

and yeah those are some really nice theater rooms. mine isn't at those levels, but it's my first house so i think it's not bad!

i wouldn't be surprised if mine sounded better than some of those though.

It would be nice to have a dedicated theater room like you, but I just don't think it would get used very often if it was off somewhere away from where people spend their time.

i use mine a lot. my wife and i probably watch 3-5 movies a week, and then on sunday during football season, i'm down there a lot. and i game down there too. so i know i personally use mine a lot.

and the colors happened to be redskins colors lol. walls were painted that yellow color when we bought the house, and i wanted a darker color down there where the screen was going, and my wife and i decided on dark red. then i wanted a divider on the wall where the red changed to yellow, and put a white bar on the wall. chairs were either gonna be brown or black, but brown matched that color scheme much better. oh and that poker table is my buddies not mine :p

This is the kind of set up that poor people get when they want to feel like going high-end:

And this guy clearly has great taste in movies.

did you fish your cables through the wall? are those all front speakers? you can usually run cables under your baseboard to any rears. Or you could run them outside and underneath siding back into the house. Unfinished basement gives you more options.

The picture is taken from where the equipment is. Five speaker cables run under the carpet to the front.

Since you seem genuinely curious, here is a better picture where you can see more detail. This one I just snapped in a hurry because the wife knows I love Jon Lovitz.

http://i.imgur.com/KmPBqPk.jpg

Down at the bottom right of the fireplace, you can see the cables for the center, front right and front right high come up in to a channel. The center speaker cable was held to the bottom with some sticky tape and had a much neater appearance when it was first done but has since fallen and i haven't really decided what I want to do about it yet.

The cables for the front right and front right high are the channeled over, with the cable for the front right high fished up the wall from the bigger speaker.

Same setup on the left side, but since I didn't want to stick the channel to the wall because I knew I'd be doing something different eventually, there's no tension to hold up the middle channel to the left speaker, which is why it's sagging.

So, yes, those are all front speakers. It's a 7.1 setup with 2 front, 2 rear, 2 front high and 1 sub.

So my next plans are to find a nice A/V shelf to hold my stuff where the dog's food/water are currently. Then, use a RedMere cable to run the HDMI under the carpet along with the subwoofer cable and then redo the front speaker cabling. I have a couple weeks off at the end of December so maybe then.

I like those theater setups. Although if I had the means, I could come up with something really badass. Oh yeah, I can see it now. It would be too dangerous for kids or drunk people, but that's the risk i'd be willing to take.

x2

I don't even find myself spending much time in the living room......home theater room would get minimal usage if any. Ok fine, for first week or 2....
