stop your whining. you have it good enough to own a computer and internet access so you can complain about your horrible life to strangers in all parts of the world.

So I'm supposed to have nothing?

The internet access is required for my job and is reimbursed. The computer is self built. I live in a 300$ a month apartment, have no cable, and only a cell phone with a cheap plan. I own one 1995 car outright, and have nothing else really other than some garage sale furniture. I suppose I should not be allowed to have a 250$ duron system I assembled from FT/FS forums?

i'm thousands in debt due to college loans, don't have a car at all, have to ride the bus everywhere, have no job, and get no financial help from my parents. you don't see me bitching.

I don't have a sucky life at all, in fact I consider myself very fortunate, I have:

1) A Place to sleep
2) Enough food so I can eat until I feel sick and still have more food
3) Clean water
4) Nice clothes
5) A nice car
6) Lots of friends
7) Good health
8) Enough money so I can afford to buy useless chemicals that do nothing but make my brain feel good

If you think your life sucks now try being born in Kenya or some other 3rd world country.

Not me,

I have a beautiful wife, loving children, a great job and I just bought a house I like with an awesome yard.

Sucks to be you I guess.
Wrong thread, go the fvck away.

How can you tell?

The thread title is "I'm depressed..." I was responding to that.

There was no indication that if we WEREN'T depressed we were NOT allowed to post.

I don't see where there's any benefit to commiserating without AT LEAST acknowledging that there is some happiness still left in the world.

However if the OP doesn't want me to post my perspective, just let me know and I'll be happy to leave.

Baby.
So you're going to make this depression go away by lording your good life over the rest of us and end on a note like "sucks to be you?'
and then call names ??? Hey, we can only hope your family doesn't end up on Dr.Phil.
Arrogant dumba$$

I don't think you know me well enough to be making those assertions.

I would argue that it's likely the OP is not actually clinically depressed. When people throw the term around it strikes me as particularly disrespectful to those of us whom have lost loved ones to depression. Forgive me if I deal a low blow in return.

You fvckers who think you're "depressed" because you're miserable haven't touched the surface of what's out there. Let me know post-hospitalisation, then I'll be able to relate and perhaps sympathise, otherwise you're just blowing off steam. I don't see why you need your own sacrosanct thread for that purpose, but fvck, it's nothing to me to give it to you.

I'd kill to have a bus system to ride. The southern states don't believe in public transportation . . .

I did not say I wasn't comfortable. I have a little 600 sq foot climate controlled apartment with a comfortable bed, a library nearby for reading stuff, an old comfortable recliner to sit in, a fridge with food, washer and dryer to do my laundry, yea yea sure sure, I'm alive and all.

WHat I don't have is 'spare money', the ability to see my kid, or friends. Kenya, France, Austrailia, or Zimbabwe is not going to make a difference on those points

Maybe there's not much you can do about extra money, or seeing your kid, but you can make friends. Join some sort of club where you can meet and interact with people with like interests. I've done martial arts and joined an ultimate frisbee team to have fun and meet new people. Physical exercise also helps with depression.

You have nothing stopping you from going out and making friends, I'd say not eating for a week hampers your free time or ability to be gregarious. Seriously. Get some perspective. Whenever I feel down, I just remember how good I have it and that even to poorest people in this contry are in like the richest 15% the world. It sounds like you're in the top 2% with youur own apartment, with a library, a computer and refrigerated food. :disgust:

My job is great, oh wait, I don't have one
Well, college is great, oh wait, it sucks
My health is great, oh yeah, I have a few of nice medical problems and partial colorblindness is the least of them.

So, I guess my life sucks too at the moment

Spent years being misdiagnosed as Manic Depressive (BiPolar for the Politically correct) and being bounced from med to med to med.. suicide would have been a Godsend, but I had a daughter to raise, by myself.. with no alimoney, no child support and I would not take a dime from the gov't. Did 'other things' to hurt myself and releave pent up frustration/depression. No college degree, no formal education after high school, meant sh!t jobs, with low pay and long hours to make ends meet.

Live gets better, if you believe in yourself.

I know it seems as if I make continual excuses. I have tried this. My problem is that my job is rotating shifts and ppl come and go and I get stuck having to work all sorts of shifts. I tried joining the Red Cross volunteers, went to meetings for two weeks, my schedule changed. My schedule seemed to be ok again, and I volunteered to work on a set of a local theatre house, then bam my schedule changed again. . . had to quit that. Just made me look unreliable and a quitter to many of the ppl there.

i can think of two things that would make you happy.
1) a loving girl
2) a better paying job

either one of those would make me very happy. Im sure its the same for a few people here.
