Your parents own the place, and could lose the property if the cops come busting in first. Tell them, and let them decide how to proceed.

You can't own property, man....

I can, but that's because I'm not a penniless hippy!

They aren't hurting anyone, and you did go snooping in their room.

Bad karma for turning them in 🙁

You have to notify your parents and THEY need to make a decision on this.
As far as blackmailing them or stealing, yes, go ahead but they might beat the sh1t out of you later on. What are you going to do, call the cops?

Unless they are doing any combination of a) killing your electricity with lamps, b) causing other tenants to complain about anything they do, or c) not paying the rent, I wouldn't report this. Honestly, score one for the high-side here, you know the legalization of this plant is ridiculous compared to what IS legal. So, long as things don't get out of hand, why bother?

Why bother? You must be joking.

Do you see an emoticon, lol, or "heh" anywhere? Yeah I'm serious, go ahead and give your advice instead of criticizing mine.

😀 Fair enough, but I'm curious as to why you would give them a free ride?

Well, for now I would. Perhaps keep a more watchful eye on them, see how many "clients" the guy has. Having a security camera installed (discreetly or not) could help with that. But yeah I don't know the legal dynamics of all this, plus I sympathize with the users, so for now I say let the people smoke. 😛

Personally I would take pics as evidence but not tell the parents.

When they returned I would approach them myself and just give them a brief talking too about fire hazard, tips to avoid break ins and what not to hint that I knew what was going on. And if possible let them know as landlords parents would need to do a walkthrough in say one week of the whole property to see if anything else needs fixing and to check the condition.

If they dont cause probs they could get thrown out and some nasty people could move in dealing serious drugs, running a prostitution ring so there is worse out there. And if they pay on time it would be hard to let good tennants go without cutting them at least one break.

Thanks to the war on drugs, your parents could lose the property. that pisses me off and it is wrong in most cases, but it is still possible.
I'd confront them and explain that it has to go. I'd tell them why, and tell them you are coming back to check in a week or so.
I'm not unsympathetic but if they want to risk thier own real property more power to them. It is not thiers to risk.
