Yeah, I've gotta say the OP kind of backed himself into a corner here by posting this info. If you were the only one with knowledge of what was going on, you might have been able to keep it on the DL, but now that you've posted it on the internet, there's evidence that you had knowledge, which could really come back to bite your parents in the ass. I don't know how California laws determine owner liability on something like this, but I'm guessing that your best option (as much as it pains me to say it) is to tell your parents what you found, and let them handle it. If you're tempted to take any other course of action, save it for next time (when you keep it to yourself instead of bragging to the world about it). Despite what delusions you may have, the internet does not give you anonymity. I'd hate to see your parents lose a piece of property or even have a lengthy fight to keep it because you ***ked up.
