Most ironic the apologists who want higher wages, fair labor practices, unionization, affordable health care, defend the very illegals that the other guy, the evil republicans, are using as a tool to destroy or lower those very things.

And if they were documented, and labor laws enforced, that particular issue would not exist.
 
As said, people coming into Ellis Island (you know, where that inscription actually is, not on the southern border) did so legally.

People coming in that way also assimilated into American culture. Nothing about your (very typical) misuse of the statue of liberty inscription has a thing to do with our actual immigration laws and policies.

Gee, I've seen signs welcoming me to many foreign countries. So if the message is friendly "Welcome to ____!" I guess that means you get to interpret it as iron-clad immigration policy telling you to come on in, never leave, help yourself to jobs, bennies, make angry political demands, get resident tuition and anything else you desire, right?

There were no restrictions on immigration until 1875. That year you could no longer immigrate to the US if you were a prostitute or criminal. However, prostitutes and criminals still immigrated to the US. Caps on number of immigrants per year didn't happen for another 50 years. So prior to the 1920s if you could make it to the US and weren't a criminal, prostitute, Asian, or polygamist(or you were any of the above but lied and said you weren't), you could legally immigrate to the US unfettered.

The US has a mexican illegal alien problem because 1. we share a border with them and 2. we tell them they have to wait ~20 years to legally immigrate. So yeah they are going to take their chances rather than wait ~20 years.

Illegals should be able to take no priority over legal citizens. Their demands are brazen. They should be thankful they are not being thrown out on their asses in droves, not be making demands.

Their citizenship status is with them and the federal government. They are residents of Georgia, so they should get in-state tuition.
 
I always challenge all the willfully ignorant pro-illegal types to themselves go try what they advocate for illegals in the US, in ANY other country. Heck, especially in Mexico.

Go ahead: go down to Mexico, take your family with you, no visa, no documents, no nothing, set up shop, take jobs, send your kids to their schools, then start demanding they change their laws/language/customs/culture to accommodate you, angrily inject yourself into their political system, demand bennies, amnesty, and any/everything you require to feel right at home be given to you.

The law doesn't need to change. It's just been applied incorrectly.

The 14th Amendment states "[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

You can be naturalized in the United States by a state of enlightenment when you embrace America and Americans. It's natural that someone like that is a naturalized American. Many of these undocumented Americans are mentally Americans (hence naturalized Americans) whereas many documented Americans have never truly been mentally American (merely born), hence the desire among them to see the destruction of the American government and prayer for the End of Days.

It's a matter of the text. The text is clear, but has been perverted by activists wanting to corrupt the Constitution.
 
The issue is not that "illegals" want you to pay for their education, as that's just a logical outcome of the ever expanding State programs. Where the problem lies is with requiring everyone to pay for other people's schooling. Ignoring the root problem while attacking its symptom does not a cure the cancer.

The OP and several others in this thread would be wise to consider this.
 
better idea go to the protest round'em up ship them home, and do away with the anchor baby law... come in legally or don't come at all. With that said it shouldn't take years and thousands of dollars to get here legally.

The text clearly includes a "born" category, so those who are not naturally American but born here cannot get thrown out.

Citizenship comes through (1) birth or (2) through a natural state that exists outside of paperwork, queues, and the like.

Respect the Constitution.
