No one is trying to overturn Georgia Law. The issue is that the Federal Government considers the children to have 'lawful presence' and the Georgia Board of Regents doesn't.

No one is trying to overturn any law. They are trying to resolve a dispute where Federal Government says that the children have 'lawful presence' and the Georgia Board of Regents says that they don't...

I'm confident that the courts will work that out...

In the meantime, the 15 states with the majority of undocumented immigrants are allowing them to attend college and to pay instate tuition.

I'm okay with that. And whatever the court system decides about Georgia, I'll be okay with that as well.

'lawful presence' seems like status by intentional bureaucratic inaction, rather than actual legal status, so i'm not sure they have much of a winner on their hands.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land;

plenty of other laws don't matter. the constitution is above them all

Reading comprehension fail.

Wait wait wait. So the Georgia Board of Regents made its determination and you are okay with the courts overturning it...

Doesn't that kind of conflict with your previous statement:

Now you seem to be saying: "Let the courts decide" :colbert:

Legislature writes laws. Courts interpret laws. Schools obey laws. That's the way the system works.

I'm okay with that...

Not what you said earlier:
Unlike you, I am not attempting to force my views on anyone. As stated in my original post, my opinion is that if the children meet the school's criteria, they should be admitted. In other words, let each school decide.

I'm okay with schools making decisions about school matters.

I'm okay with courts making decisions about legal matters.

And I'm okay with you having a difficult time grasping that...

Bullshit. If they wanted to be documented and legal Americans, they would have gone through the legal channels to become documented and legal citizens. And I would welcome them with open arms if they had done so.

What is so hard about this to understand? I bet you are one of those assholes that cuts in line at Disneyland and claim to have an "undocumented disability".

Often the most fervent supporters of deporting illegal aliens are naturalized citizens who followed the rules and respected the laws of the country in order to become a citizen.

They live in the state. They should get in-state tuition.
Just have them not live in the state then. Like they're already not supposed to be doing.

Based on current trends CA will have a Hispanic plurality sometime in the next year and a majority around 2060.

Texas will have a Hispanic plurality before the next census and a majority by 2040(possibly sooner).
Assuming that means they will side with other Hispanics, I guess that means Hispanic Ted Cruz will become even more popular.

So your OK with schools ignoring laws.

I think you have a hard time grasping the fact that state schools still need to comply with laws that lawmakers create.

Lemme know what OTHER country praises themselves as the "land of the free" ..

and has a giant statue welcoming foreign immigrants, emblazoned with this plaque

the-new-colossus.jpg

Even back then there were laws, rules, and regulations. If these "gimme gimme" law breakers had done back then what they are doing today they would have been forcibly deported or worse.
Now we let them commit fraud and other crimes with no repercussions. Also the "huddled Masses" wanted to assimilate and be US citizens, most of these illegals now don't want to be citizens and follow our laws. They just want the benefits of being a US citizen while wanting to change the country to be like where they came from. This just shows how stupid some of them are. When they succeed in changing the US into where they came from it will be a shit hole just like what they left. It looks like they are well on the way to achieving that goal.

Following a set of rules based on societal mores is fundamental to any free society. Otherwise, this line of questions leads to the conclusion that you are not free if you aren't free to murder.

Incorrect. No one I know of equates freedom of travel with murder. To make such a leap is just plain ignorance or stupidity. The fact you need permission from the State to leave or enter proves you aren't free.

No, it proves we live in a far more civilized society. We've evolved.

A civilized society wouldn't be coercive. The only evolving that takes place with the State is ever increasing control over your life. These are not desired traits unless of course you worship the State.

This conversation is over your head though so I have no idea why you even try comprehending what's being discussed.
