Refusing to excuse or justify is not the same thing as "apologizing." That is a word that you introduced into the discussion, not anyone else. What you're doing here is beyond refusing to apologize. It's like saying, "well gee, who are we to judge the Nazis for the Holocaust? After all, the Germans believed at the time that the Jews were an insidious race hell bent on destroying Germany. So who are we to judge?"
