The friend no doubt had his prejudices before this encounter, but when something bad happens to you its not uncommon to lash out aginst the one(s) who did it to you. I think its great he used a slur, got that lying SOB exposed quickly.

As far as highly offensive slur, thats very subjective. Some people consider words just words while others get their panties in a knot over the smallest thing.

Oh and honkey isn't just a silly word, it does have deep roots.

Awhile back I was bumped (as rear-ended is too strong of a term) by someone. Don't know if he was illegal or not but had no drivers licence. Unfortunatly there was no sign of damage to my car's bumper so the cop was unable to arrest him for hit and run, even though I told the cop i was hit (and my head hit the side window) and there was someone near us when he hit me that told the cop he hit me (and that guy had been following this guy on the highway due to him swirving and such, looking like a drunk driver). I think that cop was sympethetic to the person. I hope that guy drives drunk and kills some kids, and those kids souls are on that cops conscious.

So what you are saying is that you want the guy to kill kids just so you can get some sort of satisfaction? Damn...you are sick.

x23

I said this before but "FVCK" it, I'll say it again. Kids dying is a graphic image most people find very offensive and bad, hence why I used it. If I had my choice, bad things would happen to that cop that didn't do his job that night. He may have very well been friends of the family.
Damn you people are touchy.

Beurocracies & lack of evidence on my part would make this useless. As well as best case scenario he'd get a note on his file, not even a slap on the wrist.

I'll try and make this short and sweet. I don't wish he lost his job because if he kept his job but a year or 2 later he found out that he had the chance to curb someone's bad actions but he chose not to for whatever reasons and that person had gone on to commit an aweful crime of the same nature that he would feel very very very bad about himself.

The guy would have been owned anyway once the translator showed up, in that he'd be in jail still. If it goes to court, I wonder if things will get hairy because of the racial slur?

What the fvck is wrong with you?

The cop defended someone who did numerous bad things in a short ammount of time. All I'm saying is i wish very bad things upon him, and that's a very bad scenario that popped in my head. Whats wrong w/ your spelling? Do you seriously think fvck is any better then fuck? Fuck isnt censored here. It's no less a sin to write fvck then it is fuck, you know what you mean and so does everyone else. Get off your high horse.

1. If you wish bad things on a cop, why hope children will die? That's just sick.

2. Fuck used to be censored, and I'm still in the habit of typing it that way. Why do you care? While you're on the subject of pointing out spelling problems, shall I point out a few misspellings in your own posts? Ok:
its (should be it's since you are saying it is)
aginst
drivers (missing an apostrophe again)
Unfortunatly
i
swirving
sympethetic
cops (again, missing apostrophe)
ammount
Whats (again)
isnt (one last time)

What it boils down to is that you're just trying to find something to pick on me about, probably because you're embarrassed at having shown everyone here that you're no better than the cop you're berating. Grow up.

Winner.

Well.. he's not really a racist. Just has balls the size of watermelons, especially to say that in front of the cop. He told me later he said that deliberately to try and make the other guy say something back. Looks like it worked.

😕

What's to be confused about? He said what he said to get a reaction out of the mexican guy and it worked like a charm.

A non-English speaking Hispanic who crashed into a guy, had NO insurance, NO license, and no habla Englese. His brother, who was his witness spoke no English either. The proceedings were interrupted while the court waited for a translator. There was already one in the court for the defendant, but there had to be a separate translator for the brother when he was on the witness stand...all at taxpayer expense.

The illegal immigrant invasion gets worse and worse here every year.

How do you know he was illegal?

Gosh...I'm sorry to pop your bubble Mosh, but yes I would...😀 Sadly, you never really know whether one of the Hispanic invaders are here legally or not, so it's just easier for us bigots to presume they're all here illegally and rant away...😉

So I'm riding with a friend to a softball game yesterday. We're stopped at a light when all the sudden *WHAM* we get rear ended. Fortunately everyone was ok, wearing seat belts, and all that.
My friend gets out and goes to speak to the driver. Then comes back pissed as hell. The guy doesn't speak a bit of english and we think he's an illegal. Apparently the guy is also intent on leaving quickly because we hear him start trying to crank his car. So I call the cops while my buddy goes to make sure they guy doesn't run off. Fortunately the cop gets there pretty quick.
The encounter between the cop, my friend, and the other guy goes something like this.
Cop: " I need to see your license, registration, and proof of insurance please."
Friend: "Here."
Guy: "no habla english"
Cop: "Sir...no.. no sir you can't leave. Just wait."
Guy: "no habla english"
Cop: "Sir.. just sit down, sit down, I'll be.. um... uno momento."
Guy: "no habla english"
Cop: "Dispatch.. I'm out at <address given> I need a spanish speaking officer."
Guy: "no habla english"
Friend: *sigh* "Those goddamn <highly offensive ethnic slur> (not repeating it, don't want a vacation) are the whole problem with this country"
Guy: "Hey F you man!! You lucky this cops here!"
Cop: "Wow... you sure learned english awfully quick."

Turns out the guy had no license, insurance, ID, nothing. Cop hauled him off.

Great company you keep there..

Oh, I just saw the full post. I thought this was in reference to the OP. I don't think the cop's actions in your story had anything to do with who hit you.
That is how you see it, but you were not there that night for a feel of the situation.

No, but I know cops don't usually write traffic tickets when they did not observe what happened and there is no evidence anything happened other than eyewitnesses.

Let me introduce you to a friend I call "logic." You spent the better part of a paragraphy railing against a Hispanic man that you saw at court. Your final sentence (your conclusion), said that the illegal immigrant invasion gets worse and worse. So either you are incredibly stupid and do not know how to write, or you were [obviously] implying that he was illegal.

That's why I asked my question. How do you know he is illegal? Speaking Spanish and not having a driver's license, insurance, etc doesn't say anything about his legality. My wife does not have a state driver's license and she is 100% legal.

Finally, you do not know that he didn't speak English. He had an interpreter. Guess what? If I was in court in Colombia or Mexico I would *want* an interpreter as well -- even though I speak and understand Spanish. Why? Because legal cases use technical and field-specific jargon, and someone with an intermediate level of Spanish or English would be unable to properly follow their own trial.

His 6th amendment rights gives him the right to have an interpreter so that he can fully understand the charges against him, and so that he can assist legal counsel in his defense.

Perhaps you should be the one to get the fuck out of the country because you don't understand the Constitution, and feel the need to stereotype and make assumptions about people based on how they speak or look.

I don't see how he could possibly know unless it was an immigration proceeding or works for DHS. State and Local courts don't typically parade someone's immigration status around -- as it is a federal matter.

Implying? Yes. Living in an area that is awash in illegal immigrants tends to make you suspect a person who meets these types of criteria. WAS the guy illegal? Obviously I can't know that, since I'm not an ICE inspector and my county (unfortunately) doesn't question the immigration status of most people charged with minor crimes.

Again, while those issues do not automatically indicate that the guy is an illegal immigrant, they are indicators of that. As for your wife, does she drive? Are your vehicles uninsured? If the answer to both those questions is no, then you're just throwing up a smoke screen to distract from the real issue here. Illegal immigrants drive without licenses or insurance.

Do I KNOW the guy doesn't speak English? Well, I suppose not, but the judge, his attorney and the district attorney all asked if he spoke English, and through his interpreter he answered, "no."
Perhaps you missed the point that he already had an interpreter. I have no problem with that. As you mentioned, legal or illegal, he has the right to know the charges against him. My point was the interruption of the court while it waited for a SECOND interpreter...for his brother, who also (allegedly) spoke no English.
I DO believe that interpreters should be at the defendant's expense, NOT the State's.

I have a pretty good understanding of my Constitution, and stereotypes exist for a reason, like it or not. I'm not gonna get the fuck out of MY country because you don't like the fact that I defend it against the illegal invasion that is occuring here every day.

Without proof that he was illegal, your whole argument is null and void.

There are large numbers of uninsured drivers in Alabama that are not illegal. Secondly, yes my wife does drive. Yes, our cars are insured. She is currently using her national driver's license (verified that she could with state officials (AG office, attorney for DPS) until she gets her license here. She does not have a state license. She will be going in the next few weeks to get it. She was unable to get it until she had her employment card because of REAL ID -- even though she is here legally and we are married.

Thank you for being honesty. Sounds like we just disagree on policy. I wouldn't expect an indigent defendant to pay for anything. Normally, interperters, transcriptionists, experts, etc are costs born by the defense. However, if someone cannot afford an attorney or experts... the state will pay.

I think jumping to conclusions weakens your argument. You seem like a nice guy who cares about the issue, but the stereotypes just doesn't help you.
