OOooooh, you got SERVED.
Seriously though, after a few minor wierd driver bugs and a bunch of lock ups (WTF VPU recover...) I'm never buying an ATI card again. I'm considering trading my 9800 Pro for a 5900 if I could find someone to do it.
This is the case today. ATI does have superior cards, but nVIDIA's drivers are superior and have fewer issues with a greater number of games, as well as far better Linux support. This has sealed the deal for me personally. I always feel like I got screwed over for buying an ATI card simply because I have always had more difficulty with ATI. When ATI cards work, they are fantastic... nVIDIA cards may not knock out the frames per second they way ATI cards do (this year), but they just work. Also, ATI's new "driver-per-month" plan doesn't really help - I don't care if they only come out with one driver a year as long as it works. Their new approach just means that you have to watch their website like a hawk hoping that they have fixed the issue you currently have.Originally posted by: SneakyStuffPLEASE don't tell me you've based your arguement over the "nVidia, the way it's meant to be played" logo, ATI and nVidia both have their advantages/disadvantages, but let me ask you this? If ATI had totally superior cards, would you still just buy nVidia because you think they're more compatable?

KOTOR enabled soft shadows for ATI cards with the latest patch.

Don't you get frustrated when you have to FORCE PS2 in a game to see new effects? well that usually happens with Nvidia.

I would, that's why I bought ATi. Still in more than a year and in 2 rigs have had no problems related to drivers. Only had a minor one in NFSU which solved with a driver update.
Both have their pros and their cons don't you think?

After ordering my 9800pro I began to look at driver issue in games. Now I am seeing that nwn, kotor, other bioware titles, cod, nfs, and many others have driver issues, features disable and such all because of bad drivers. So whether or not ati can beat nvidia in some game benchmarks.. it would appear if you want compatibility in games.. if you don't want to hassle with turned off features or bugs.. you best order an nvidia card.. cause frankly thats what they are all building their games for.
