A few weeks ago, I would have said no. After getting to play with a phone that uses 4G I change my mine. I really dont feel like coughing up the money though.
Honestly it's not a very exciting upgrade. I happened to have a family member who had an available upgrade and wanted my 4S, so it was win/win in the cost-savings department for both of us. I am interested to check out the new autofocus in video since I have a speedy 1-year-old at home
It really feels like more of a 4S+ upgrade rather than 5. Yeah, it's got 4G LTE, but supposedly the 3G is already at fairly close to 4G speeds. Yeah, it's a bit taller, but eh. Not much difference in the camera department aside from software upgrades. Still a USB 2.0 connection. Still no 128gb option.
Although I don't really know what else they would add. I wouldn't really want much of a wider screen. NFC maybe. USB 3.0 connection for faster photo/video downloads, although I'm sure I'm in the minority of "heavy iPhone camera users" haha. 802.11ac would be cool. I sort of wish they had gone with a 12-megapixel camera, but that's probably being saved for the 5S.
what do we need LTE for? us 4S owners have had "4G" for months now!

People have messed up logic if the 4S was a major update and the 5 is minor.

Yeah the 5 is more of a "major" then the 4S, more so because of LTE IMO then the screen bump.
4S has some significant advantages though, it's much faster then the 4. and the camera IMO is night and day difference. Also at least it's not getting shafted on the new iOS like the 4 is lol
I'm curious to see how big of a deal LTE really ends up being. 3G is already pretty fast for me, although I don't stream Netflix and stuff due to data plan limitations. Safari, MOG, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are all pretty quick since they only have to load iPhone-sized webpages (well, Facebook's app is a pile of garbage, but that's beside the point haha). I don't really have any complaints with it. Such a huge jump over the old EDGE connection
Technically the 4S was a pretty big update...twice as fast CPU, 8 megapixel camera up from 5, 1080p HD recording up from 720p, 64GB option up from 32, etc. imo it went from Pinocchio to a real boy
The 5 is less of an update to me...a little bit of a taller screen, faster processing, 4G (but 3G is already pretty quick...), mostly the same camera, same GB storage options, etc.
-Bigger screen
-Better screen saturation
-2x faster CPU
-2x faster GPU
-Better battery life
-8 hr LTE battery life
-NEW CHASSIS
-Thinner
-Lighter
The 4S was internal changes, while the iPhone 5 is both internal and external. I understand why 4S users don't want to admit it, but its pretty clear that the iPhone5 is a bigger jump than the 4S.
I would like to but being in Michigan, Metro detroit area we have no 4G let alone LTE or does it look like its coming any time soon.
I always upgrade, this might be the first year i actually wait. We will see.
Yeah...but mostly...a little taller, plus faster 😉
I think the 4 to 4S is a bigger jump than the 4S to the 5. Of course, I have a 64GB 5 coming tomorrow, so I'm one to talk 😛
Yea I dont really get the obsession with LTE, other than 'its new, so it must be better'. Even on 25mbit Wifi things arent super fast.. because you're limited by the device's processing power, and what you can do with it.. Its not like people are downloading 8gig MKV's. If you're downloading a 2-3gig movie from iTunes, why would you ever do it over cellular.
I think the big benefit to LTE (in the short term) is that fewer people are using that spectrum so there should be more bandwidth overall. For now....
I'll keep my 4s. It is slightly less than a year old and is in perfect shape, (like brand new). It works flawlessly and does everything I need. I'll catch the next version ... 5s maybe?
I am wondering if I should pass on updating to iOS6. I hear Maps is suck and I don't do Facebook.
I've also been pretty happy with my faster "4G" speed. It's not LTE, but it seems a lot faster than what I had before.
