If you had $150 to buy 3 games, which 3 would they be?

I see alot of benchmarks and performance issues regarding many of the games that most people play. But I rarely see people give their opinion on what games they enjoy the most and which they would recommend others to buy.

I have finally built my PC and for the first time in 6 weeks, I actually have some money to spend on games to take advantage of it. I listed what games I already own, but I was really wanting to experience something different. I'm not a huge fan of RTS or RP games but I am willing to broaden my horizons if something out there is really excellent.

As you can see, I'm partial to FPS's but I am a huge sports fan (all 06 EA Sports games on the XBox) so maybe a driving game would be cool? Perhaps some different genred FPS's?

I put this thread here because I see it as a video performance question more than an enterainment question. I'd love to see some high-end eye-candy pumped out.

Thanks in advance :)

Farcry and COD2. If you can squeeze it in, than FEAR is an awesome game as well (although language is pretty hardcore).

I would get Far Cry, SCCT and Chronicles of Riddick. They're all quite a bit less than $50 these days so you could probably fit a fourth game in there.

It won't tax your system and you'll be able to finish it pretty quick but Advent Rising is a fun game, Silent Storm is also a good game and has some pretty good graphics, theres always UT2K4, those 3 are relatively cheap so you'd have fair bit to spare.

NFS MW is great, but to enjoy racing simulators, you will need a quality racing wheel

Wow, great responses...

I was afraid this topic would fall off the first page in no time but you guys are great.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is SCCT?

NBA Live'06 is amazing. I have it for my XBox and I am running it in Hi Def. It's so great.

Also, buying a nice racing wheel doesn't scare me one bit. Any recommendations?

Keep'em coming and thanks again!!!!

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

If you really get a nice one and want realism, FIA GTR is real. NFS: Most Wanted is arcade. Both have their merits, I think NFS:MW has the better thrill and gameplay factor though. FIA GTR has better ai and true physics. NFS MW plays fine on a gamepad, FIA, not so much.

for racing wheel Logitech momo is one of the best. Logitech also made one for the PS2 for GT4 that's supposed to work on the PC as well. I don't know which is better but can't go wrong with a momo wheel.

For the broaden the horizons category, try out World of Warcraft. I pretty much used to play only FPS's, but WoW is really fun. FarCry, IMO is probably the best FPS that you don't already have. FEAR is decent, but overall not amazing.

$50 a game? lol, try eBay or even Fry's and you'll find many new games around $20 to $30. Assuming each game is thirty...

Mafia (cinematic-type FPS, really fun)
Far Cry (epic FPS, with some tactical elements)
Deus Ex (RPG/FPS hybrid, best game ever)
The Marathon Trilogy (classic FPS series)
Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny (first person RPG)

FEAR, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and an XBox 360 controller for NFS:MW to really get the most out of that game. You'd still be well under $150.
