Wrong. Its made by Dice.

EA bashing is easy and trendy tho, so what the hell!

'Bout the games though. I would say your bag is pretty good. definitely get HL2 that includes CS:S and DoD:S. You CAN'T miss this.

If you liked COD, COD2 is great for single player, but heard its not even as good as COD1 in multi player (which I thought pretty much sucked, but I always liked DoD Or even Enemty Territory).

FEAR is pretty intense, but not all that amazing, though it certainly has awesome graphics, AI, battles, etc. I've heard the multiplayer has a bit of cheating though, which is the only thing preventing me from buying it.

BF2 is pretty good. I'd say get HL2 pack, BF2, and a non-fps game like Civ4, or a RTS or RPG (wait for Oblivion if you do this). Don't wanna get wore out on the FPS games.

Also, try demos. Far Cry and FEAR both have demos. This should help you decide about buying (they are fairly short, but you'll get an idea)

Ok, so after all these great responses, I left home at about 8:45pm. It was late so I had to pick one of 3 major retailers (CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City). I chose CompUSA because I thought they would have possibly the best selection of steering wheels. Well, I was completely wrong about that. They had 2. The Momo for $99 and lesser Logitech NASCAR series wheel for $49 (suction cups so no dice - desk is pourous). I figure I need to shop a little before plopping down $100 on a wheel so I'll check the net tonight and then Fry's maybe this weekend.

Anyway, even though I didn't pick up the wheel, I found Need for Speed Most Wanted Black Edition for $39 and Far Cry for $19.99 (was REALLY surprised this was so inexpensive but sure enough). FEAR was still $49 and I thought that was too expensive for a game where the cover was telling me they won last year's award. So I'll shop for FEAR along with the wheel.

Regardless, PLEASE keep the suggestions coming. I am so gluttonous when it comes to buying computer stuff that I may completely blow my budget and just have some fun. But even if I don't, I still have $90 more to spend and I need help :)

If you buy a wheel for your PC (I suggest the Logitech MOMO Black, I've had mine for a year and it's great....and cheap) you have to get Richard Burns Rally. I bought it when I bought FIA: GTR and those are my two favorite games. I play BF2 a lot along with FarCry and the other popular FPS. But yeah, definitely get RBR, it's around $20 and well worth the money.

EDIT: I'll also add that FIA:GTR has a huge following with add-on cars and tracks being released ever so often. Check out RSCnet GTR Forum to see all the add-ons.

I wouldn't buy any. I have more fun with freeware and game mods than I do with actual titles. I'd buy HL2 for the mods, but I already own it. FEAR you'd have to pay me to play. That game put me to sleep. After the 3,078th soldier I had shot, I was done.

Q4: Kinda short as a single player game, but it's fun and looks great. I like the handling and feel of it in DM, it's, um, "Quakey". That's what I cut my teeth on. It's just a pain having to turn the SP eye candy down to get an acceptable DM framerate. I got the DVD edition with Q2 and both its expansion packs included for 40 bucks. I have owned Q2 since the day it came out 8 years ago (never bought the expansions though), but if you don't, it's a fun piece of nostalgia.

FEAR - So far I like it, I've only made a little progress through it, I want to play it on my X1900XT which will be back in hand tomorrow.

Freelancer - interesting trade/combat sorta-open-ended space sim. 3 years old, probably hard to find, but should be cheap if you do. It's only DX8, and runs smooth as glass @ max settings on a modern high end card. some really breathtaking visuals even for an old game.

GTA:SA - Yeah. Mayhem is good, much of it looks like sh!t though, and it's a badly optimized port to PC overall. Still a lot of fun.

Games I'll probably buy this year - Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, NFS:MW, will definitely get Oblivion. Not sure what else. All the little shops that made PC games in the past that I loved (like Looking Glass and Ion Storm) have closed their doors. :(

Since some older stuff is being brought up, check out Freespace 2's source code project. The original was in my opinion one of the best games ever made and is freely available now; among other things, the graphics have been vastly updated to bring it fairly close to modern standards.

and i'd probably sub Q4 for SCCT ;)

nah, SCCT is way better IMO. I think it's easily the best game we've seen in the last two years.

These are the ones I would recommend you:

1) Need for Speed Most Wanted ( You need the best racing game)
2) Call of Duty 2 (A must have game)
3) Splinter Cell: Caos Theory ( You'll love this one)

As you can see I would buy those in your situation. Variety is the word!!

Next purchase: F.E.A.R.

FEAR, Far Cry and BF2. At any rate you should be able to get alot more than 3 games with $150. Especially since Far Cry it typically only $20 bucks now adays.

I got my momo wheel for $129 at fry's so i guess the price came down a little bit. I got it primarily to play FIA-GTR coz no way you can enjoy the game without a wheel. The game even supports clutch pedals but i don't think anyone makes one.

If you love racing game you should try a rally racing game. I've been playing Colin McRae Rally 05 for a while and it's fun. Trying to execute the perfect drift to negotiate a sharp turn at some single lane dirt road next to a cliff is intense. You can also race a buddy in split-screen or race others online but the online community is rather small. Richard Burns Rally mentioned in an earlier post is another game i want to try.

Everyone - I'm sure the OP appreciates your advice no matte what, but keep in mind he already owns HL2 and BF2.

In response to the person that said Far Cry was overrated, I must disagree. IMHO not only is it much cheaper than most other games right now, but to me Far Cry is underrated. It was less hyped than some of the other big shooters that have been released, won fewer big awards than HL2, looks almost as good as anything else out there but runs really well, and features a setting that at least at points doesn't feel like the same "fight in a futuristic base or research facility" most other FPS game offer. But most of all Far Cry is beautiful. Stunningly beautiful. Like take time to just look around the world beautiful. I'm playing through Quake IV right now, and while it's no doubt visually impressive, there hasn't been a moment yet that's really made me stop my progress and just look around.

F.E.A.R. and Chronicles of Riddick (if you don't mind a bit of foul language in Riddick)

Call of Duty with Expansion.

Well, I didn't want to kill the flow and possibly prevent someone from posting their opinion, but I do indeed own those 2 games already :)

I work really early in the morning and get done around noon so I just started messing with NFS:Most Wanted. My goodness is it slick. Visually, anyway. I have everything cranked up and it is smooth as can be.

Of course, my gamepad is not really giving me the experience I want (do you see what I mean when I say I'm gluttonous about computer parts and accessories?) so I found the Momo Wheel for $86 at Walmart of all places. Taht's the lowest I've seen for a retail outlet. It's $75 at NewEgg and that $10 just isn't gonna be worth the wait, especially with the weekend coming up. I wouldn't get it til Wed which means I couldn't enjoy it til next weekend. Not gonna happen.

Anyway, I'm estatic this thread happened the way that it did and I would still love to see any more suggestions if you would like to give them.

Thanks for the millionth time,

you have to be hell stupid to buy Fear. Its a single player game, buying it is a waste of money (Im not suggesting warez here, but you have to be stupid to waste 30 dollars).

My games of choice without a doubt:

HL2 (DOD:S if you dont have it)
BF 2 (and Special Forces)
COD2

If you have any money left, then I would get quake 4, but you do get tired of that game pretty fast. for sports I suggest Winning Eleven 8, but if you wait till April you can get winning eleven 9.
