After fulfilling the 1st change wouldn't that make all the other 4 moot since you've already changed the course of history?

My list:

I'd return to 9th grade.
- Push myself to be very athletic while eating a ton of protein and vegetables. I was lazy and ate poorly, which I think had long lasting effects on my body to this day.
- Get straight A's. (I could have, but the work was so boring that I'd do just enough to pass)
- By getting straight A's, have access to more college choices. Attend a college out of state, perhaps abroad. And actually finish my degree.
- Stay in a dorm at the college of choice. And have as much sex as possible.
- After graduating, live alone in a small place, keep expenses to a minimum and just save until I could buy a house with cash.

This is actually the list I'm going to encourage my kids to follow.

Meh, I'm sure a lot of peoples list will be like that but if the opportunity really presented itself, I would think long and hard about it... the 5 you stated is nothing compared to what you could potentially achieve if you spent real time to think of what you could do knowing what you know now.

Given the limitation of having to choose 5 things, it does become quite hard to decide whether I should be selfish and make changes to make my life and those around me better or to sacrifice that for a greater purpose like stopping 9/11 from happening.

Right...cause 9/11 would have been SOOOO easy to stop...what would you have done? Told NORAD that planes were coming...they were already being held back from doing anything and then you'd be arrested for knowing about "terrorist plots" and shit...

You're just like those people that thinks they could go back in time and kill Hitler...like as if you could just walk up to him and shot him...cause we all know no one ever tried that!

I'd go back to January 1998 when Apple stocks were just over $3 a share. Then I'd put my entire life savings and college fund into them. If I spend $3000 then, I'd have $250,000 today!

Other things I do
-I wouldn't have gone to university for commerce. Erase that entire first year.
-I'd ask out that one hot girl I had a crush on in highschool, bang her, then leave her.
-Try to take more risks/be more pushy
-Get AndroidVegeta arrested for paedophilia.

That was just an example, the real point is if I should think of myself or think of others.

I'm not even going to debate the logistics behind actually stopping it, I'm sure it could be done with the right planning before you take the potion. And as for the Hitler thing, have you not played Red Alert. A lot easier to stop him before he came to power so yea, you could walk up and shoot him.

- Become active earlier in life.
- Go to a different college.
- Pick a different major.
- Not eat the refried beans in Guatemala.
- Not buy my house

But, even after all of these... I am still doing well in life and am happy.

Not necessarily. For instance:

1. No credit cards. Ever.
2. I'd buy that $50 classic that just needed a new starter. The guy left the country and couldn't care less about making money off the car.
3. I would have made a different decision for my first college degree.

There's a couple of decisions I would have changed going back to fairly early in my life. I probably would have to go back to when I was 6 to get it all.

Does nobody here want to better themselves? :\ And I don't mean through money...

Im sure people do but making up points in time you can never go back to does not help one better themselves. If anything it may depress you more thinking of how much you f'ed up your life :p

If you asked me 5 years ago, I would have changed nothing. I had no regrets.

Now, I would change anything to erase the last 15 or so years of my life.

1. I'd have stuck with my ambition for the legal field. I like a healthy debate/argument but almost everyone in the IT field see this as a negative.
2. College. I dropped out because I was paying for it myself. Should have at least stayed for a 2 year degree even if it meant getting loans. When I was making enough to afford it, I sent my wife instead of me.
3. I wouldn't have gotten married. I made bad decisions, and I stayed around far too long.

I'd learn how to eat and start getting in shape as a freshman in highschool instead of a freshman in college.

I'd take more chances in social settings. I missed a lot of opportunities. Sexual, platonic, career.

I wouldn't let Katie get away so easily.

I might decide to not go to college entirely. Or I would at least give the decision of 'where' much more thought. Screwed myself with that one I did.

I'd talk my dad into listening when his friend tells him to buy Quallcom before they hit it big. And probably a few other choice stocks.

WTF is wrong with you people...

1. Take the power ball lotto numbers with me.
2. Live in a simple home on the beach of some island paradise.
3. Swim/fish in the ocean every day.
4. Make love to my wife every afternoon.
5. Spend evenings surrounded by family and friends.

If any of you listed college, career or other work goals, well, I pity your lack of imagination.

I'd go back to August 16, 1994, and tell myself not to pitch in the game that changed my life forever. Prior to that game, I was a serious pitching prospect (baseball) with scholarship offers from several Division IA schools, including Witchita state (then a powerhouse). After that game, I was just another injured kid with broken dreams of playing baseball for a living.

the problem is that once you go back and change one thing, you won't ever reach any of the same 'points in life' that you had.

There has got to be some sort of formula you could build to accumulate $1 trillion or more through a series of stock buys/sells. Sort of like that kid who traded a paperclip for a house. Except all of the steps are laid out before you, just go back and find the largest percentage gain for each day of trading dating back over 10 years or something.
