I'd go back to August 16, 1994, and tell myself not to pitch in the game that changed my life forever. Prior to that game, I was a serious pitching prospect (baseball) with scholarship offers from several Division IA schools, including Witchita state (then a powerhouse). After that game, I was just another injured kid with broken dreams of playing baseball for a living.

Or you go back to yourself immediately after the injury and say,

"You'll be alright. Life is not over. I've overcome it and accomplished so much instead of sulking in the past. Life gives you lemons. Deal with it."

I really hate how ATOT does this to interesting threads.

People act like they have no idea what the OP is asking for, and instead nit pick this stupid obvious crap like playing stock markets/lotto/etc. About the only way to have a thread like this is to add 10 paragraphs worth of rules for the idiots.

I suspect questions like this make people uncomfortable because it means facing their regrets.

Personally I'd tell myself to think harder about what I want in life and how to live it instead of just cruising along. Can't say I have any serious regrets though, at least nothing that's beyond fixing imo.

OK, I'll bite.
1) go back and prevent my brother's accidental death
2) get pilot licenses in high school
3) go Airforce ROTC and fly 141's c130's
4)get out in 10 and fly for airlines, maintain reserves. Get to fly C17 before I retire from reserves.
5) buy real estate the whole time and have some unique and profitable properties.

I'd go back to the time where Anand posted his AMD CPU review, except I'd get it in one day before him.

Then this place would be AmdhunterTech and I'd ban all of you bastards one by one.

What use is there mulling over the past? Sure, there's a bunch of things I wish I did differently, from elementary school to driving home from work today. And if you want straight answers the set up is too complex. Why not just ask, "What regrets do you have" or "What do you wish you did differently".

Plus, it's not like every interesting thread goes off tangent or is toyed around with. Even here, you have your serious answers.

hm. I think I'd have...

-applied myself more in high school
-not let myself get overweight (granted, I've lost the weight, but I spent my teens and early/mid 20's weighing 3-400 pounds)
-gone to my first choice college
-majored in something more career-oriented
-had more fun, been less serious

None of that shit matters because you just won the powerball motherfucker!

If I could go back to my freshman year in high school, I'd start working out and never would have gotten with my ex-gf (7 yrs). I think I could have had a shot at college soccer if I had worked harder at it, and that relationship was just a waste. I hate that I ignored and lost friends because of it.

School-wise and career-wise, I wouldn't change anything.

1. Have tons of sex in high school
2. Pick a "better" college major
3. Apply to be a police officer straight out of college

I'd probably go back to when I was five and then get my parents to win the lottery for hundreds of millions of $ and have them put $20 million in some kind of savings account just for me so I can access it when I am 18. I'd go to better schools, live in a big city with good schools, get my teeth fixed sooner, and get my acne fixed before it even really started.

We've had these threads before.

I'd tell myself what to do with my life.

Of course I still don't know that now so I'm pretty screwed.

I think in some sense money really can buy you happiness despite what all the "feel good" fuckers say...

I look at it differently. The lack of money can be stressful and bring worry. Money removes that. So in essence, the money buys happiness. But I don't need millions of dollars for that. $10,000 would buy happiness for me. $100k would keep me happy for years to come.

I am living the wish of my future old self that wished he could go back in time to when he was still young and enjoying life.

$100k would keep you happy for years? Idk about that for me. $100k isn't that much.

$10,000,000 would work nicely for me. I'd be happy with that for the rest of my life easily. :)

If $100k isn't much to you, please share. I live in the hood, we poor.

It'd be nice to have, but it'd only pay for about 3-4 years in school at best. I'm not saying I'll pass on the offer of $100k or nothing, but... $100k vs $10mil... $10mil is life changing forever/no-job-ever/permanent-vacation-around-the-world. $100k is just money for school so I can get a real job.

Well I'm not going to school to make money, so I guess we just have different priorities. With 10 mil I'd end up giving away more than I would ever spend on myself.

You sure you don't wanna spend that $3k on an iMac instead? :p

With the share prices that low, I could've been the one in the jeans and black turtleneck. Mac would be a viable gaming platform, the iPhone would have Flash, and I'd drive around in a 1959 DeSoto without plates. :D

How old are you? $100k isn't much at all. It's shit in NYC or SF.

I make $70k right now and it's only $30k more. I'm just an average bachelor. If you have a good head on the shoulders, you can't do shit with $100k and you have no business buying BMW 5 or 7 series, nevermind exotic cars. You can't even buy the cheapest properties in Boston Backbay or Marina District in SF.

Even if you made 500k a year, you're not rich by any means. You can't have your own private jet ($3-10 mil a year).

Rich is like $3-15+ millions a year. There are plenty of those and are nothing compared to true billionaires (bill gates, middle east oil princes, etc)

$100K pfft.

I don't want a private jet or a BMW 7. I've never made more than 25k any year. I was recently offered a job that pays on average 100k a year but I'm not sure if I want to take it. I don't have a capitalist bone in my body. But I do have debt. A mortgage, car loan, student loans, etc. 100k would pay for most of it. I'd be a happy camper if someone gave me $1k.

In the end I like where I am, so I don't want to change too much. (Didn't you see that episode of Star Trek where Picard tries to change his past and ends up in a dead-end job instead of the captain?)

Nonetheless, there's a girl sr. year of high school I should have hooked up with, and I know the exact moment I need to go to for that.

I also would not buy a condo in 2006. Either buy it earlier and sell it then, or just don't buy it at all and wait a couple years.

I'm also wondering if there's a way I could have gotten in on my old college roommate's company he now co-owns. I did a bit with them, but didn't push to really get into it.

(Yeah, yeah, Apple and Google stock, lottery, etc.)
