Something you may have overlooked is that in many areas garbage men are the same people that drive the snow removal trucks. In NYC they use garbage trucks to carry the snow to the river. That doesn't change your situation but it could be an explanation.

You're right, damn JAW! Oh wait, you mean UAW, doesn't matter that almost every autoworker in Japan is unionized, where most of their manufacturing takes place (I hate to break it to those who harp "... but they have factories here!" Yeah, they do, but even if you add every single one of them up, they still have less than half of what the smallest member of the big three have. The auto industry is in such shambles because people don't want to spend money. The big three are in shambles because of how poorly they've been run. Ford is the prime example, because they started restructuring and redoing their line much earlier than the other two. Who actually asked for a loan and who just said "just in case?"

Yes, who pays the bills? Do you pay them directly? Does your Homeowners Association pay them? Does your city pay them? Did this payment get delayed for any reason (city ran out of money, etc...)? That would explain this...

UPS wouldn't even come down my road. My Secret Santa gift came when the UPS driver parked at the end of my street and walked his ass 2 blocks to my house I saw him walking away and found the package on my porch later. I shoulda tipped the guy.

Anyhow, the garbage truck got stuck in front of my house in the snow and ice on Friday. It took him 10 minutes to turn around and get out and that was with chains.
