You sir, win, hands down. That is amazing. If only someone could pull that off convincingly.

The only reason people would do this is because they believe no one will say anything. If you are too scared to confront them, go get a store employee.

this is basically what i did

Call the person a "f*cker" just loud enough for the person to hear. We'll see where it goes from there, but I wouldn't do much about it (pussy).

I tell them the line ends back there...and don't think I've ever had someone say f-u after that.

I am 6'3", 240 lbs. Doing the above usually works, though I try to do it in a very nice way (unless the person deserves otherwise).

(If I am with my kids, any line is torture, so I may not ask as nicely in that situation.)

If it does not work, I have a very loud voice and use it to summon an employee/security guard.

In regards to parking lots, I agree that people should be allowed to "sit" on a row. I do that all the time. It is like a line for parking spots and takes the luck out of getting spots.

I have a pretty good line cutting story.

So me and around 4 of my friends were at Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake this last october and we were waiting in line to get our beer. The line was a good 30 minute wait at this point, and we definitely waited our turn in line. The beer was in a big tent, and this whole event was outdoors with no real "defined" line, so a lot of people would try to cut into line right before they got into the tent and hope nobody noticed.
Well, two guys try and cut line right in front of us, both of them on their "cell phones (im assuming they stayed on their cell phones so people couldnt talk to them). I tapped one guys shoulder, told him to get to the back of the line and he immediately did so. I turn to the other guy and tap him on the shoulder letting him know to get to the back of the line. The guy hands me 6 tickets (you buy beer with "tickets", one ticket generally equals one dollar) and tells me that its hush money. I immediately took the tickets and let the guy get his beer. I mean, he paid me to cut so why not?

After we get our beer me and one of my friends decide to stay near the front of the line and watch all of the line cutters. Once we watched someone cut the line, we would casually stroll up behind them like we were in line the whole time and accuse them of cutting in line. Once we caught them off-guard with the accusation, we would ask them for "hush money", and 90% of the time we would get around 3 - 6 tickets from these guys. We did this around 5 or 6 times, and needless to say by the end of the festival, we were wayyyy drunk. It worked like a charm!

I suggest others do this. Its a very easy way to get free beer at a beer festival!

Cliffs:
Caught someone cuttin in line at oktoberfest, asked him to get to the end of the line and instead he gives me $6 in beer money for him to stay in line in front of us.
After we got our free beer, we stood right next to said line and waited for people to cut in line
One we found a cutter, we would roll up behind them and accuse them of cutting, then letting them know the only way they can stay in line is to pay us.
Most people paid, we got around 4 rounds of free beer.
