If I rip out my tooth with pliers...

My tooth is killing me, and I have no money for a dentist.
If I rip out my tooth with pliers what will happen? Will I have to cut some nerves or will it just pull out.
I know it might shatter... This might be a risk I have to be willing to take.

Go to a dental school, they usually do super cheap/free work. Or be a moron and rip it out, it will bleed and likely get infected and you will likely get dry socket and end up going to the dentist anyway

If you really do this I would recommend drinking vodka or something beforehand so it's somewhat less painful and to get the germs out of your mouth.

Try this. Pulling it yourself could be really bad times, for a very long time.

Is the tooth top or bottom jaw?

If it's top be careful as you may end up putting a hole in your nasal cavity also don't forget to sanitize everything before and afterwards.

chances are you will not get all of it out, and even if you do, i can almost guarentee it will get infected. Mouth infections are no joke, they can spread to your neck/brain and be fatal if not managed properly. Borrow some money from a friend if you have to, but get this done in a clinic at the least.

^^ As mentioned above, check your area for local dental schools. The students need people to test on, and it's typically free.

Always go to a trained professional for medical advice. I know nothing.
I love the disconnect between the topic title and the signature. Having "quack" in the user name makes it even better.

Tooth problems were one of the bigger killers throughout history. Don't ignore this one or take it into your own hands. Talk to a dentist, you may be able to get charity work or at least a payment plan.

Rob a store, if you get caught you get free dental work in prison. If you get away with it you have some money, goto a dental school.

Are you close to the Mexico border - dentists are significantly cheaper there.

I would walk into a dentist office with a $100 bill and beg them for help. Tell the Dentist you will pay him $50 a month in cash for the remainder.

If you are in the bay area I can give you the name of a dentist.

What tooth is it? Molars are a PITA to pull under the best of circumstances. The others...well, it can be done by yourself if you're careful.

I have a pair of needle-nose vice grips that are wonderful for pulling teeth. (just ask my kids and grandkids)

However, this is not really something you should do at home in most cases.

Extractions shouldn't be more than a couple hundred $$

If you do it yourself you risk infection. If you have a tooth infection it can get very nasty and very painful and end up costing a lot more. Cheapest and safest way is to find a local school that has a dentistry program, or just spend the money to get it done at a professional dentist's office. In my area the local community college does it for free but you take a risk as they are new students, that being said at least it's a sterile environment and there are typically people to oversee the process.

Doing it yourself can lead to a huge amount of pain plus risk of infection or worse.
