Mine just arrived. My very first thought, "nice packaging". My first thought after getting it out of the box, "Damn, this thing feels solid". Wish my new MicroSD card was here already. Damn Newegg and their slow-ass Eggsaver shipping!

Hopefully Newegg ships my sdcard before next weekend.

I checked out the Nook Color at the BN store before ordering, it's surprisingly dense.

I have the original Nook, and it's solid too, but I wasn't expecting to pick up a thin slab of depleted uranium. This thing makes the Galaxy Tab feel like a tinker toy.

MAN I am SO curious about these things! But the fact that I know NOTHING about rooting and I've heard that a new version is coming out soon (unless it already is) makes me want to wait and see....

Whats the specs on these things by the way? I hear they can be OC'd.

I was planning to get one today, but ooops deal over. Now I am trying to find a better then $250 price. Closest I see is best buy with the free "$30" external power source. Which for what it is I would just add to my wifes droid arsenal so she stops running out of juice, as the reviews say it doesn't work well with the nook color.

The specs I cared about:
7" 1024x600 IPS LCD (IPad also uses an IPS screen)
TI OMAP 3621 800Mhz processor (similar to the processor in Droid phones, where it is clocked at 1Ghz)

Yes, the Nook Color can be OCed to 1.1Ghz.

Wow, the display on this thing is nice. It's pretty damned fast too, even web browsing. The B&N flavor 2.1 is annoying, but I'll be fixing that soon.

Got mine today too. Display IS nice. Impressive.

Stupid me thought these things took SD cards so I was ready to root as soon as I got it, only to realize I need a MicroSD card. Doh! Gotta wait a few days now until I can get one.

I'm in the same boat, probably should've ordered from Amazon. The stock Nook is ok so far, can't wait to try out some Froyo/Honeycomb roms.

Hmmm, any info on what I've heard about a newer version coming out soon? I heard it will have a more Androidish interface instead of the reader interface. Not sure though. I don't want to buy one and the new one come out next week LOL.

Same hardware, new firmware. Go ahead and buy now.

Ok, now let me ask a dumb question. Would this thing run 3.0? Especially when OC'd?

Yes, already being done, dev's have lifted the code from the SDK for now, so it's a bit slow, look for a port from the Xoom to show up, they'll be tweaking it...

B&N sold 10K of these things on eBay, and I'd bet a larger % of them went to folks that are going to hack it, so it's even more attractive to the developer crowd...

Excellent.... may have to take a ride in a few minutes.... I'll report back....

What size microSD card should I get with it?

Ok I'm back! I bought 2 of them cuz the wife wanted one too. I also bought 8gb microSD cards for them as well. I got to say I am IMPRESSED with the stock performance. My software version is 1.0.1 .... So now what? I have NO idea how to root. I also don't know what version of android I'd want on it. Can't wait to get started. Any idiots guide to rooting?

I read, unless you want to run the ROMs on the internal memory, it is better to get higher class sdcards (faster cards). I went for the class6 8GB card I linked earlier in the thread.

Wouldn't running the ROM on the internal memory be faster anyway?

Yes. Much. Even compared to Class 10.

Honestly, dicking around with NookieFroyo SD on a class 2 card, I'm not having any problems. But then again, I know what to expect from Android anyway in terms of performance (Old Mc'LagMan had some Lag, Laggy Laggy Oh).

Wait, they sell these at BestBuy as well? Really?
